Inn at Starlight Lake & Restaurant

I knew this wasn’t a fancy hotel so my expectations were not extremely high. But I did expect basic cleanliness and maintenance. The property has no air-conditioning (something else I didn’t realize until I checked in), so when I arrived at my room the window was open. Despite the fact that the windows have screens, my entire windowsill and window screen were caked with a thick layer of dead bugs and filth. The room was extremely hot, and there was a small fan but it was extremely weak, and it also was covered in dead bugs and filth. Just to round things off, there was a dead bug chilling on the bathroom countertop to greet me. I took a shower, and found the water pressure to be the weakest it could possibly be without being nonexistent. It was a literal trickle. The drain was so slow that by the time I finished my shower, the water in the tub was above my ankles. And then I reached for the grab bar so I didn’t slip getting out, and the bar came off in my hands. Between the sweltering heat, the very loud yet ineffective fan, and the general ick factor, I got almost no sleep. I was booked for two nights, but I forfeited what I had paid for the second night and left because I just couldn’t deal with staying there another night.

Very clean room and a great breakfast. Nice staff too.

The woman who checked me in who turned out to be the owner, was not very friendly and seemed grumpy. Our room still had a half bottle of wine and shopping bags from the previous guests, while looking for a receptacle behind a chair there were spider webs and dirt then had to kill a spider by the headboard of the bed. We left to stay at another clean motel.

No internet or cable in our room so we had the best night sleep ever! Breakfast was delicious and included. Real old school Inn. Great price.

Very quiet, great for readers during the off season. Nothing much else to do.

Nice, quiet and quirky place by a lake. Great breakfast included. House is 1800’s and a little date with decor, but everything is super clean, owner is on premises and interactive. Bar on site that is open until owner “goes to bed”, porch viewing lake, fishing, kayak available for free

It's right on lake which is beautiful to wake up too. The people who run the place are wonderful and extremely accommodating. Also the breakfast was the best I've had in years. I suggest the blueberries pancakes. Can't wait to go back again soon.
