Luz Bay Hotel

Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice hot showers. Firm bed. Easy walk to restaurants and beach. Wonderful hike up to the cliffs! Lots of trails.

Our air unit was not controllable. But the staff helped as best they could. Need more fresh fruit at breakfast.

Location was ok.

Varying temperature lightbulbs, hair in bathtub/shower from previous occupants, extremely worn blankets and holes in towels.

serious value for money, pools are great ,and a fab breakfast.... lovely staff

It was cold. Heat did not work. It is NOT 4star accommodation and we left early

The receptionist on my arrival was surly and refused to help me with my luggage to my room which was up steep, narrow stone steps. The safe in the room was broken, so I had to ask a friend who lives in the area to store my passport, house keys and other valuables. There were no tea-making facilities in the room. There was not even a waste-paper basket. It was pared to the minimum. I stayed for 11 nights during which they never changed the sheets!! This is rated as a 4 star hotel and that is unforgiveable. It clearly does not merit anything near 4 stars. The room was serviced in the late afternoon when one returned to one's room for a shower and wanted privacy - clearly they have insufficient staff to service the rooms, like other hotels, in the morning when guests are out. The chamber maid never "made" the bed, just pulled the covers up over a crumped bed! Breakfast had no fresh fruit salad or selection of fresh fruit. The cereal was cheap cornflakes, no muesli or healthy cereals. I ended up buying fresh fruit and taking it into breakfast. Breakfast only ran from 8.00 - 9.30. I've travelled the length and breadth of Portugal and never stayed in a hotel where the service was so poor.

Hotel was friendly and had a lovely atmosphere... staff were lovely. Breakfast was nice. Overall, we enjoyed staying here, as it was quiet and relaxed.

It was tired. Understaffed. Nothing was open. Pool bar closed, none of the extra services available as advertised. Pool needs re-tiling (last year). Seemed like the place was being ran on skeleton staff.

Not enough to do, the pool bar wasn't open, both pools needed fixing, air con in one room didn't work and hairdryer only lasted 5 min
