"Okay for one night"

6.0

Kind staff, hot breakfast-eating area is adorable, close to smugglers notch drive and Stowe area, relaxing front porch with chairs, walking distance to the taco truck (the best tacos)

Uneven floors, only a steep staircase to get to your room which was difficult being a single female solo traveler lugging my suitcase and belongings, limited parking, cold and dark feeling inside, my thermostat was set to 72 all night and when I woke in the morning it was 65 degrees in my room. Ceiling in rooms around vent could use some cleaning as there was black dust/moldy looking spots around it, small rooms and bathrooms-I was solo and found it difficult to find places to put my luggage and bathroom necessities.

One of the most important things about a Bed & Breakfast is how you are treated, and the owners and staff here are outstanding. Very helpful and friendly and easy to get to know. The lodge itself is quaint and clean and in a beautiful part of Vermont that just glows with color in the Fall. If you like the charm of an old, huge farmhouse-turned-Inn, this place is for you. It was built in 1790 as a large farmhouse and was turned into an Inn way back in 1890. We loved the layout and the feel of this place. It is connected to a small Tavern, so access to that is as easy as it gets. The whole place has a cozy feel, including a fireplace in the large den and a very nice little breakfast area for the free (and delicious and freshly-made) breakfasts, served at a time slot of your choosing. No cliche buffets here with a toaster and bagels. Real food that is real good. We were very pleased with this lodge and highly recommend it to others who are picky about where they stay when touring or vacationing beautiful areas, which this certainly is. Five Stars.

Excellent breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Reasonable price. Comfortable bed. Good location.

Room too small. Bathroom tiny. Not accessible for disabled persons. No elevator . Disabled person had to climb two staircases and walk to the end of hall. Main staircase has a wobbly bannister that needs to be fixed for basic safety of guests. Hard to get hot water after 10 pm. Needs painting and refurbishing. Looks run down.
