Westport Woods Hotel & Spa

Location was great. Hotel was alright. Food was terrible. Staff were friendly but poorly trained so service was awful. Not at all a 4 star experience. Pool & leisure facilities were poor. Definitely not worth the money. Would recommend elsewhere in town.

Location was perfect for our group. Atmosphere at the hotel was welcoming & staff was very friendly. Kay in particular at the restaurant. Rooms was large & spacious. Room door had no lock on the inside. Value was good untill the breakfast disappointment! Booked our slot for 10.30 as per email options. Arrived, was no pasteries at all left, no hot food left & when we enquired, we where told the chef had gone home. Breakfast finished at 10 30, even though the email had a later booking slot at 11. Eventually we where told they would see what could do and they arrived half hour later and set down a plate of breakfast, we where not asked what we wanted & due to an allergy, I couldn't eat what they had brought. Extremely disappointed on the breakfast. Potatoes on the plate was out of the fridge cold. Sausages burnt. We dont know who actually cooked the breakfast if the chef had left. We then checked out of the hotel and that night my friend which the above experience also applied to told me that she had received a €50.00 voucher. We where offered no compensation.

The hotel was fab. We had dinner Saturday evening and the food and staff were so lovely. Really good atmosphere. I was very disappointed the next morning. I had booked breakfast for 11am,as that option was there when I filled out the online form a few days previous. The receptionist had also confirmed that time was ok. When I got to breakfast at 10.50, I was told I couldn’t get any. Only cereal or toast. I was so disappointed . My husband and I don’t get away often as we have young kids so I was really looking forward to dining and relaxing. We then had to go and get breakfast out that cost us €30. Overall the hotel is lovely but the breakfast situation was very disappointing.

Bar & reception is nice, residents bar is a bit of a farce you just get moved to reception and somebody is supposed to come to take drink orders but they never do. Food was terrible. Large family of 21 and many people tried the bar food and were very dissapointed. Rooms are average however I understand they are in the middle of renovating

Very warm welcome / spacious and quiet room. Some toiletries were missing, and despite my requests, no one came to replace them (for two days - then we left). When I checked out, my card was charged for the balance, but I never received an invoice (print or email). The front desk didn't ask me if my stay had gone well (so I wouldn't have had the chance to mention what happened). The lobby has a bar that’s drafty, and the staff didn’t do anything to close the windows. So we moved.

Large room . Excellent breakfast. Spacious

No hooks in bathroom. Main restaurant expensive if you weren't on all inclusive. Bar food good but not great . We had to ask to reserve a table to get one of a good height to eat comfortably at. I was put off the pool as was given the impression it was busy with non hotel guests . Dressing gowns available to get to pool from room would be helpful. Lack of information in rooms . We were aware however the hotel is being revamped and work done looked great.

Rooms were spotless. The reception area has recently been renovated and looks amazing. But it’s the staff who made the visit, they were so friendly and helpful. It really made the difference

Just one small thing. We were looking for food in the bar on Saturday afternoon and were told that as there was a wedding on there was no bar service on the day.
