DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL I don’t even know where to start but this hotel is a mess. I get it is a historic hotel on Catalina with local charm, but we paid $900 for a room w trashed carpet, trip hazards, broken furniture, we had to move not one but two pieces of heavy furniture out of the way to use the sleeper sofa. We were told new mattress and upgraded bathroom and both were dirty and a mess. Dripping rusty water, lots of broken floor tiles, etc. Worst attempt at redoing rooms I’ve ever seen. Clearly the family that has owned it forever doesn’t care. Our room, without any advertising to know details in advance, was 4 steep flights of stairs up, no elevator or offer to help w heavy bags. False advertising all over the place. Outside our window was a gross trashcan on a roof and bird droppings so disgusting we kept the curtains closed. If it was $200-$250 per night, maybe, but it’s a dump. Sad owners don’t care and gouge guests with really high rates. Over 40 years have stayed at the other dozen or so hotels in Avalon and they are ALL better, cleaner and greater value for the money. $900 is a lot for a dump.
