Pousada do Marvão - Charming Hotel

One should experience a pousada at least once in their lifetime. It is the Portuguese equivalent of "Les Relais et Châteaux" elsewhere in Europe. Great room, great restaurant, perfectly situated with breathtaking views. We highly recommend the pousada at Marvao.

The pousada is difficult to find. Specific driving directions would be very helpful. Scenery and historical location extraordinary .

This Pousada is in a very small village. It is a charming hotel in a charming location, and reasonably priced, but difficult to access. It is fine for the able bodied. Would not recommend it for anyone with mobility issues.

Overall pleasant stay except were charged for canapes that were put on our table when seated but not advised would be charged for. Fee was quite exhorbitant. Had to request the amount be deducted from bill and they did not rather reluctantly.

Magical place with great views and ideal reception rooms to sit and enjoy ambiance day and evening. Good customer service with comfortable rooms and restaurant. Marvao is unspoiled in spring time with flowers of every description in windows and gardens.

Famous Pousada in equally famous Marvou. Room was large but no desk chair provided. Internet service very poor. Restaurant served a very good dinner. All staff friendly and helpful. Overall the facility is in ok condition but upgrades would make it even better.

Perched on top of a hill, with fabulous views from the restaurant, and a short stroll to the castle. Room was quiet and comfortable. Parking could be a bit of a problem although we were reasonably lucky and found a spot nearby, but had to carry bags up a couple of flights of stone steps to reach the Pousada. Not a problem for us, but older couples might find it difficult.

Although the view from bar & restaurant is superb our bedroom's window opened directly onto the street, so no view from bedroom. Food at dinner was overpriced for what it was but breakfast good.
