"Nightmare check in experience, owner cancelled my reservation"

I was so excited for our weekend getaway with family but when I arrived at 3pm I was told that my reservation was canceled at 1 PM because the owner tried to run my card and it didn’t go through. I explained to the front desk staff that it must be an accident because I chose to PAY AT THE FRONT DESK. Then she explains to me that, even if you choose to pay when you arrive, the owner of THIS specific la Quinta will cancel ALL reservations if he cannot process their card at 1pm. My jaw was to the floor. I have travelled all over the country, from California to Texas, to Florida, up to the northeast, and I frequently stayed in La Quintas, I NEVER encountered any other La Quinta with this policy. I typically reserve rooms on a debit card that doesn’t have more than $20 in it, but I later transfer money from savings onto the card, so that I can pay AT THE FRONT DESK which is what I chose when I reserved the room. I have never had any issue with this at any other hotel or la Quinta. The front desk staff were able to still honor my reservation luckily. Then I was given a room where the door doesn’t properly close unless you BODY SLAM it! But I didn’t realize this until I had already brought all my stuff in AND my dog. I was so excited to arrive and this poor check in experience totally killed it.

We like the breakfast choices. We also loved the pillows!

We didn’t like the fact that some brats were running up and down the halls at 10:30 PM -knocking on doors-even with the DO NOT DISTURB magnet up. However we made front desk aware and it was stopped.
