Sol Torremolinos - Don Pablo

A generally satisfactory experience let down by an appalling lack of food choices for vegan guests. Upon querying dessert options, I was told 'there is fruit'. A constant nagging meant that for the last two evenings, a supermarket-style ice-cream was produced (i.e. choc ice and/or Cornetto-type offering). Ultimately, a complaint to the manager ensured that the final dinner had protein (chickpeas and some tofu) in a vegetable curry which had been missing in virtually all the other meals. Each evening the restaurant offered two soup options, but on no occasion were these suitable being either animal based or with cream. Similarly, breakfast was restricted to muesli and fruit; although there was soya and oat milk available. Beans on toast was an option too but after a while this became tedious too. If you are vegan or also perhaps have other diet restrictions (I can't speak for how other diets fared) then you need to consider very carefully if this hotel is suitable. For me, a professional kitchen with chefs who have skills to prepare dishes (assuming that they aren't simply brought in and heated up?!), should be able to produce a vegan menu that has, at least some options for each course that are suitable. I paid the same as meat eaters but didn't have anything like the same choices. This is neither professional nor good enough.

This is not a review of the hotel itself. Just of the booking process and management: I'm very disappointed with my recent booking experience with the Sol don Pablo. We have been visiting the hotel for several years and have always been extremely happy with the service and staff. We made our booking for a side sea view room very early as usual, for the end of May 2025. I did notice when making the booking that the hotel is currently closed for refurbishmment but the available dates showed that it was due to be open again by the time of our booking. I received an email from the hotel a couple of days ago advising me that the hotel will not actually be open for our booking dates and that we would need to agree to be moved to the Sol Don Marco hotel next door. The email advised that there would be no additional charges to us for the inconvenience or move to an inferior non sea view room at another hotel. Despite several emails back and forth no decent offer was ever made by the hotel for suitable alternative accomodation. I have sinced cancelled the booking and all others made with Sol for this year. Shame on you Sol by Melia. Please consider your loyal customers when messing them around. We may not come back after this kind of treatment!

Lovely clean hotel, great location on the beach front. Plenty of sun beds and can use the other hotel complex (3 on same site) Great breakfast selection, probably say it’s the best one that I’ve been to aboard. Only stayed b&b so can’t comment on evening meals.

Great for families, comfortable rooms, good buffet breakfast. If stay without booking all inclusive there are some good beach cafes and restaurants within walking distance.

If you would first aid / medical help, or even just a plaster do not go here - Staff are very rude & have no compassion or a caring bone in there body! 4 Star!? Yeah right 0 start customer service!! I ask for a plaster as was bleeding badly, the plasters are for staff only! They have no duty of care to there customers / hotel guest! Dirty bathrooms and basic rooms for a 4 star hotel. Would NEVER EVER stay again…. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVER!

Just arrived back from a week's stay at the Don Pablo. The hotel was lovely and clean and staff all friendly. We only had the maid service 1 day to change towels but everyday she checked that we were OK and if we needed anything. Due to the freak weather during the week the dining area became unsafe to use over night and found breakfast being service in the reception areas. The staff dealt with the situation fantastically and still manged to provided a decent selection for breakfast with the dining room back to normal at night. Overall a great stay and will definitely visit again.

Great hotel with kids club. David, Jonathan and Elena are fab. We have just completed our second stay and we have booked to return next October. In general the hotel is well maintained and clean. I'd personally prefer a firmer mattress. Xtra sol family room was very nice. The indoor pool was well used due to the poor weather. Outdoor pools felt a bit cold. Breakfast has a great selection. My children enjoyed the mini disco, kids club, indoor pool and trick or treat around the hotel. I sympathise with those guests that were visibly not enjoying the kids running around the resort shouting trick or treat - but the children really enjoyed it.

Witnessed the carnage that was the kids club trick or treat night on 31st Oct too. Dreadful. Pulled our children out of it before someone got hurt. Such a shame, leaving a sour taste, as the hotel and facilities are generally very good. Hopefully the hotel will take on board the feedback.

The hotel and its staff are excellent, and they should be congratulated on how the dealt with this weeks extreme weather The 1 star review comes from the actions of the animation team, as a parent of an autistic child who had waited patiently for the Halloween trick or treat, the event was ruined by the dangerous actions of the animation team, they lead a band of 40 children running down stairs into a stairwell where he obstructed the door, he then decide to huddle the children in a reception area and throw the basket of sweets up the floor, with kids climbing over each other and scrambling on the floor for a piece of chocolate, the whole exercise was both dangerous and reckless. Multiple kids left with nothing as it was survival of the fastest. For a team of staff who excelled in keeping their guests safe on Tuesday, closing off areas and taking all necessary precautions to be let down by the irresponsible actions of the animation team, does them a great disservice Very difficult to explain to an autistic child why they didn't get any chocolate By scrambling across the floor. Hopefully lessons can be learnt and the hard working of many is not ruined by the actions of a few. People who work with children should be the best of staff not the worst

Just returned from a 4 day break. Multi generation family. Half term break plus Nanas birthday. As always, this hotel complex is fabulous. We had 2 rooms. 1 Extra Seaview and one pool view. With the help of the great team, Nanna had a superb Birthday cake, fizz and balloons served at the beach bar one afternoon. Entertainment was great in the eve. The El Divo trio were wonderful. By day it was Aqua aerobics in the pool and darts. Swimming in the indoor and outdoor pool. We opted for full board. It was defo worth it. We did go out to La Paella one night which is opposite as my lil one craved carbonara and Nanna fancied Calamari but the service and food was terrible. We did enjoy the tapas selection each day. The big win for our lil one is the ice cream machine and toppings. Breakfast was superb. Housekeeping lovely. Everything wonderful. Big shout out to Jonathan in the animation team who was setting up Halloween displays to rival the West End when we were leaving. He created a superb set up by the restaurant overnight. What a talent. Our outside seating waiter at the restaurant was wonderful as always. Claudia on guest services was so helpful and made Nannas Birthday so special. We shall return! Thank you.
