Hotel Calamidoro

A estadia foi boa, porem o site deveria ser mais claro como por exemplo o hotel não tem banheiros acessíveis e também não tem restaurante

You would never find this hotel if you didn’t have the exact postcode and that is part of the reason why we loved it. Stayed for a week, it was our base for a short tour of Tuscany. The staff were so welcoming, friendly and helpful which always make your stay anywhere so much nicer. Breakfast was a normal Continental affair, perfectly adequate. Our room was lovely, it was cleaned everyday and fresh towels provided everyday! The pool was a tranquil & relaxing place to enjoy the sunshine for a few hours. Only down side would have to be a restaurant for an evening meal or snack, although there are a few restaurants within a short walk from the hotel it would have been really nice having returned after a full day to not have to venture out again. I would recommend the Calamidoro but would say you do really need a car if staying here.

The hotel comes across as a sort of old castle. But not the French classy ones, more a Disney version of it! It was clean, staff very kind and helpful but the hotel feels a bit outdated. Otherwise everything is there, including a nice pool.

My sister and I booked through Ryan Air and got such a bargain break, we weren’t expecting very much. So, it came as a lovely surprise to actually get to the hotel and check in. A 30 min drive from Pisa Airport, the hotel is in the commercial district of Calcinaia and you turn into what looks like a little shopping complex. At the far end of the car park are the gates to the hotel and once through these, the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Once in the hotel all the staff we met were extremely helpful and polite - really brilliant. Our room was in one of the outer buildings in the grounds, but was able to accommodate the three of us and we had our own little sun terrace too. The room was tastefully decorated/furnished and very comfortable. Cleaned daily, it was spotless. Breakfast was good -Continental of course, but with wide selection of meats, cheeses, pastries etc and served till 10.30 -also handy as Mum not so speedy. Bar ok but pricey. Pool looked lovely, but we managed to hit a poor weather spot, so didn’t use it. A great hotel base to tour Tuscany. Our only gripe was that it doesn’t have a restaurant, despite what it says on the website. There are three restaurants outside the hotel gates in the complex and the hotel recommends two of them. One is an American Diner type place, probably ok if you have kids with you, but not quite up my 81 year old mother’s street. The second place the hotel seems to have links with is a Steak House - in the far corner of the complex. We tried this and weren’t hugely impressed. Service good, food mediocre. The third restaurant which the hotel actually said they wouldn’t book for us, looked more traditional Italian, but never seemed busy and the menu looked very pricey, so we didn’t try it. All in all restaurant situation a bit disappointing. We ate out at lunch and had drinks and nibbles in our room, utilising the fridge in there. Would I stay there again? Most definitely.

Would like to recommend this beautiful Tuscany hotel. Although the location is somewhat both rural and strange (in an industrial street), the hotel grounds are away from the street and you’ll probably want to have a car in this area anyway. Visiting Tuscany the hotel is a 20 min drive away from Pisa and 45 min from Firenze. Also about 20 min from Lucca. The buildings and hotel yard are gorgeous, you almost feel you’re in fairytale surroundings. The hotel staff are very friendly, helpful and smiling. There is a very nice restaurant just outside the hotel yard, Calandrino - the food is great, presentation is beautiful and the service is excellent.

This is a nice hotel, clean, good service, good food and bar. However I think the location is not very well. You need a car to get anywhere and all major attractions are between 30 to 1 hour away. But if you don't mind a bit of driving it is a good hotel

I have just returned from a 3 night stay at The Calimidoro hotel . What a fantastic and friendly hotel , that is situated about 25 minutes from Pisa airport . This hotel is located in the village of Calcinaia and to visit the surrounding areas you would need transport . We travelled with a group of friends and when arrived we were welcomed very warmly indeed . They gave us a welcome drink , and very quickly checked us in . We stayed in the main building on the first floor , our comfort room was supplied with everything you could ask for . The rooms were very clean and our bedding was changed daily . The staff were absolutely faultless , very intentive to your needs . The receptionist Serafina was amazing , a lovely lady who spoke very politely indeed , all the staff we encountered seemed to be hard working and have a knowledge of speaking English . We would recommend to anyone about staying here Yes with previous travellers comments it is on a main strip surrounded by industrial buildings , but when you enter the gates and drive up the road to the hotel it is like a hidden gem . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with them , also you do not have to pay any city tax whilst you stay . The hotel has a bar , and breakfast is served daily from the same part of the hotel . Breakfast is a continental one , mainly cereals , hams , cheeses and pastries but very nice . Their are restaurants nearby if you need to eat at night , we had a hire vehicle so it was easy to get around . Thanks again to all the staff , you made our Tuscany break very memorable...
