Hotel Calamidoro

The reception staff were excellent, checked us in showed us to the room and helped in every way they could. The hotel is on the main strip. there are a couple of restaurants in the main car park area. The american diner was the most popular. The room was dark and access was via the outside stair case. The area was noisy from people talk out side for ages after returning from the night club which we could hear until about 3 am. Breakfast was a scrum the first morning as there are not enough seats either inside or outside when the hotel is full. The receptionist tried to help and got us a table. I would not stay there again!

What a Discovery … Calamidora Hotel! We stayed five nights as part of celebrating 30 years of marriage. It was my first time to Italy. The hotel is attractive and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, polite and went the extra mile. Our room was lovely with plenty of space and cleaned daily. The breakfast was excellent just what we needed to start the day! We were staying on B&B basis. The hotel itself is just off of a main road but once through the gates you can't hear local traffic. The hotel is on a large site and you enter through a large car park. The local Lidl supermarket is only 5 minutes away, if you need anything. This lovely hotel was a great location to discover part of Tuscany. During our short stay we visited Lucca, (5 star), Pisa and Florence (4 star). All these places are breath-taking and need further visits. The hotel is in a strategic location and perfect to explore the area by car. The first night we ate at the local pizza restaurant, simple and filling. However, let me mention two others that stand out. The first was the Ristorante Calandrino. It was superb! The service excellent and the food brilliant. Don’t let the outside put you off! This is a restaurant not to miss if you are in the area. The food is very special, the atmosphere good, and the service is first class! Coming to Tuscany? It will be worth the journey and such a great experience! The second is ‘the Ristorante I Maggi’ in Buti, just a few miles from the hotel! We had a beautiful dinner here with 4 courses. It is tricky to find, but worth the excursion. I was delighted with my meal. The first course was simple but creative for an authentic taste of Italy! Next, a lovely selection of cold meats. The main course was a delicious piece of tuna steak! Finally, a wonderful desert to send me back to hotel happy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The ambience was special being both old and new together. What a great evening to round off our holiday. We were looking for Italian food so wouldn’t recommend the American Diner near the Hotel. Great Hotel and a great area!

Great Staff! Helpful and friendly. The breakfast was lovely and good way to start the day. Entrance a little strange going across the car park, but well worth it! They seem to genuinely to care for their customers. Going to Tuscany it is worth a good look with good connections to Pisa, Lucca and Florence!

Good hotel in the Lucca and Pisa region. The hotel is good. Clean rooms and good breakfast. Location is average along a road. The village Calcinaia is not interesting, hardly restaurants. There is a small swimming pool at the hotel that's busy. The large swimming pool at the property is open for all and on season overloaded. The property and gardens are very well maintained

The Calamidoro Hotel is situated in several buildings in an Italian style, it looks a bit like a castle and houses. Staff is extremely nice and welcoming. Our room was spotless clean, and the swimming pool was a plus. For the price, they could have offered a free towel service, but... Breakfast was nice, and there is a small bar were you can get a drink in the evening.

The Hotel staff were excellent, we didn't have a car so the information from the receptionists was vital. The bar staff are excellent although at lunchtimes they were put under a lot of pressure as only one person doing food and drinks, but very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean but very dated, would be a good idea to have tea and coffee facilities in every room. The bathroom was okay but there was no light in the shower so had to leave the shower curtain partly open, really could do with updating.

Elendig service fra dag en. Personal var mer opptatt av å prate seg imellom enn å yte den service en bør påregne til prisen betalt. Under frokosten gikk hotellet stadig tom for rundstykker, alternativet var en tørr brødskalk og ved enkelte anledninger ikke engang det. Om natten er det formidabel støy fra omkringliggende etablisementer, høy musikk til rundt 4-5 om morgenen. Rundt klokken 2 på natten starter hotellets vanningsanlegg som også står for mye støy. Eneste positive med dette hotellet var at det alltid var greit med parkeringsplass. Ellers styr unna ! Det ble registrert råteskader på badet som forøvrig hadde feil helning,slik at vann rant helt ut i rommet om en stod for lenge i dusjen.
