HOSHINOYA Okinawa

It was a relaxing and quiet stay with mediocre service for a luxury hotel. We like the zen feeling of the spacious room, gorgeous ocean view and the authentic Japanese atmosphere at the resort.I love their Benta Cafe situated on a hill above the ocean. The view is breathtaking while we sipped away on a few drinks. The dining options are limited and Olugrill was fully booked for dinner on their online system for the 3 nights we stayed there. Fortunately, we were able to walk in and get a spot on one of the nights. Overall, the experience was authentic, therapeutic and relaxing for me. However, I would really consider coming back again here for their lack of English for a hotel at this price. There were some small inconveniences caused due to their lack of proficiency in English. It didn't bother me much as we had local friends taking my husband and I around so we were able to enjoy the local restaurants nearby. However, I would say a foreigner who can't speak Japanese would probably have troubles getting various food options nearby. One thing I would also like to mention is that the staffs were really fast picking us up everytime we called the golf cart from our room to other areas of the resort. However, every night when we came back from outside (between 8-10pm), there may not be a staff there to take us to the room. It would’ve been a 20 min walk in the dark with a chance of stepping on bugs. Luckily, we were able to catch staffs who walked by and had them call a golf car for us. The public phone we could use to call near the entrance outside of the front desk) didn't work. We could've had walked inside the 24 hour front desk to have them call for us but it is really quite inconvenient for a luxury resort. It'll be like at least 5 min a walk. Overall, we didn't feel we were being pampered compared to other luxury hotels. The staffs were polite but I don’t know if there’s anything luxury about the service

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are magnificent and the staff and service are absolutely 5 star. The pool is stunning and the food at the fine dining establishment is a culinary experience not to be missed. But, a few things to note: The area around the hotel is very limited for dining and activities. Hence, we would have really loved if the hotel served food at the pool. There are some very limited drink options there but having a lunch menu at the pool would have been incredibly helpful to relaxing and enjoying the day there since that is about all there is to do! The hotel has three restaurants and all three are very expensive and dressy so being able to have a casual sandwhich, burger and fries or some pasta or snacks served poolside would have made this place perfect. There is also no bar. Having a comfortable sunset bar would have really made out stay more enjoyable. Just nice options to be able to relax without leaving the area.

Lovely rooms with perfect ocean views, very helpful and friendly staff. A bit impractical in terms of distance to restaurants and shops if you don’t intend to dine at the resort.

All the buildings and gardens were beautiful, and everyone I met was friendly. The facilities were convenient.
