"Reasonable hotel, good if sun is out."

Nice big old building, set in very large grounds. Rooms were comfortable, breakfast was very good. We stayed one night for a party.

The property was a little dated and in need of a bit of attention. Evening meal was disappointing for a Mercure hotel.

"Great value for money"

If you want a country location, close to Bristol and are travelling north this is a great value for money choice. The property is old and has a lot of history but is kept very clean. The privilege room we had was very generous in space, we really enjoyed the size of the room, chairs (or lounge) for resting in and the hot breakfast, pastries, fruit was more than we expected. Staff were friendly, check-in we were given a connecting room which we didn’t like so the young man change it for us in no time, it was greatly appreciated. Quiet at night and the location suited us as we headed north the next day.

Walk-in shower preferred, but we managed with the bath / shower.

"Staff were good but first room very poor"

Location was good especially for dogs

I had a gritty room for the first night with no hot water coming out the bath tap. Luckily I complained and they moved me to a much better room for my second night .

"Would stay again"

The staff were friendly and helpful. The food in the bar and at breakfast was really good. Good choice too. Breakfast was a buffet but the hot food was made to order which was excellent. Lovely setting, especially great if you were staying with dogs which you can do. It could do with some updating in terms of the building but it was comfortable, clean and very good.

I can imagine some people will have a problem with the fact it is a bit shabby but given it is clean, comfortable, has good food and friendly staff, that shouldn't be such a problem.

"The best stay"

Absolutely lovely hotel, staff are so lovely and friendly, especially Libby, Anastasia and Lily. Everyone cannot do enough for you. Beautiful views aswell
