DoubleTree by Hilton Galveston Beach

We love our room, its size, layout, and wonderful view of the ocean and pool. We did not like the poor and understaffed lack of assistance that came from their breakfast space, and the waiting time for the one elevator. So, this place is good, bad, and needs some improved management.

This is ABSOLUTELTY THE WORST Hilton Hotel we've ever stayed in! Keep reading unless you like to stay in rundown hotels. First of all, the front desk staff does not like to answer questions pertaining to the hotel or your stay. You will notice a green carpet in the lobby that covers up the main elevator, which has apparently not been working in quite some time. Everyone, including the staff, is required to use the service elevator, which is small and slow. We were told it would be months until it's repaired. This is not mentioned anywhere on the website. Lamp shades and other things in the room are rusted out. While the curtain rod was still up, it had been ripped from the wall. The AC unit looked busted but fortunately, it still worked. The mattress was noticeably worn and uncomfortable as if it hadn't been changed out in years. While the pillows look nice and fluffy, they go flat when using them. The most concerning issue at this point was the water going out at the hotel. Plumbers were there for hours working on it and, while I understand these issues arise, the staff did not advise anyone of the problem, nor did they know when it would be resolved. They were still trying to serve food from the kitchen WITHOUT the water running, which has got to be a safety violation. As if all this was not bad enough, upon checkout, I requested a hard copy of my receipt but was refused one. We were told we would receive it via e-mail and nine days later, we still do not have it. I have called the hotel and Hilton themselves numerous times and still have no receipt. In all my years of travel, I have never had such problems with the receipt nor stayed at such a horrible establishment claiming to be a Hilton. If this is what it's come to, I will never stay at another Hilton property. Again, if you like rundown hotels with horrible customer service along with everything else, this place is for you. I attempted to add photos, but it would not allow for some reason.

The hotel's location is very good, and the view from the room's balcony is fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they helped us with any problems we had.

The room was moldy. Had a terrible smell. The blankets were beyond dingy. As soon as we walked into the room and noticed we immediately left. It’s hard to believe that this is a doubletree by Hilton.

Shuttle to cruise port should've been free.

Just unsure about things. Like could you order food all day? Could kids eat outside in the lounge by the pool and sidewalk looking at the beach?
