DoubleTree by Hilton Galveston Beach

I normally don't write reviews but I had a great experience at this hotel. Check in was smooth the rooms were okay. We decided to eat at the restaurant inside and let me tell you our experience was relaxed and comfortable. The staff was on it every time we needed anything. Service was great, food was excellent. Especially, I want give a shout out to, I believe the name of the gentleman was Sky. He was so courteous and friendly and prompt. He made us laugh during our time there. Thanks for a great experience and we will be back

The location was good. The layout of the pool with the swim up bar looked great.

The staff was really slow to respond. We were locked out of our room because of a failed door access system. They ended up changing our room. The coffee machine in the new room was broken. The pool was really dirty. There is a general lack of maintenance.

This place is an utter dump starting from the run down exterior to the worn out interior and rooms. Their "fix" is tons of paint to cover up the flaws. In the room, it smelled. The bathroom grout was stained and crumbling. The bathroom faucet was completely loose. Parts of the drywall were crumbling. Major patchwork done above shower ceiling. Lots of caulk around the bathroom counter to cover up the fact that it was falling down. Safety latch to door was falling off the door trim. Furniture was very scratched up and dented. A/C thermostat was dead (battery operated), so had to have maintenance fix it. Balcony has two chairs that fit right in front of the rusty A/C exhaust which blew hot air making the balcony useless. A/C unit was rattling and noisy making sleep a challenge. Parking is a rip off at $15 a night for an unsecure back lot. No free breakfast -- just an expensive "AYCE" offer, which is the typical offerings at most other hotels for free breakfast and it was over $20 -- did not try. Elevator was slow to arrive at any floor. Overall, this place is more like a run down motel that no one felt there was a need to invest in its upkeep. IMO, don't stay here even for the location.

Great for the price

Hotel could use some upkeep. The Gulf Air has took a bit of a toll.

While the site appeared clean, there was several issues found once entering the room. The rug was visually worn, then there was the bathroom, it was dingy, worn in both the shower and toilet showed rust, wear, mold or mildew. Also the charging station provided did not work.

I never leave reviews but I felt like I was duped. This place felt like a motel that Hilton bought and slapped a Doubletree logo on it. All the staff we encountered were very nice (except the female server with tats and dark hair). The $15 pina colada tasted like it was made from a powder mix. We got the Chips and dip platter bc we didn’t think it could be messed up. WRONG! Chips were stale, queso wasn’t heated at all and very apparent that it came out of a can, the salsa wasn’t heated an odd gray color and didn’t look at all like salsa. Our balcony door didn’t close all the way and the room and everything in it was moist. You could feel the moisture on the pillows! EE we AC never got to the set temperature and we woke up sweating! One elevator was down so only one was working and it took forever! Overall not a good hotel. We read other mixed reviews but didn’t think a Hilton could be this bad
