Strong odor of gas in our room. We were told it was a known issue but since the hotel doesn't use gas, there is nothing they can do. Made me nervous and uncomfortable for the entire stay.

My sister and I stayed at Hotel De La Ville during our third trip to Italy while visiting Sorrento on the amazingly picturesque Amalfi Coast. This was our second stay at the hotel, and I truly cannot imagine choosing anywhere else. Hotel De La Ville is reasonably priced, and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home rather than simply like a visitor. From the bellmen and reception staff to the maître d' and wait staff, everyone is exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Our room was gorgeous, modern, and incredibly comfortable, with a spectacular view of Mount Vesuvius from the balcony. The rooftop bar offers one of the most breathtaking views imaginable. Sipping a glass of red wine while watching dusk settle over the water, as the city lights begin to glow beneath the mountains, was an unforgettable experience. My sister and I also looked forward to breakfast every morning. The continental breakfast here is far beyond what most travelers would expect. There was an impressive selection of fresh fruit, a salad bar, cereals, cheeses, meats, breads, pastries, and a buffet of freshly prepared hot dishes. This is the only place where I genuinely get excited to wake up for breakfast. What stood out most, however, was the kindness of the staff. During our stay, I noticed what appeared to be an elderly gentleman being welcomed in for breakfast. Whether I understood the situation correctly or not, the compassion and generosity shown by the staff left a lasting impression on me. Hotel De La Ville, thank you for your warm hospitality, five-star service, and genuine kindness. You are one of the reasons that visiting Italy is worth the long journey. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else when returning to this beautiful coastline, and I look forward to visiting again. With gratitude, A returning guest

In May, we were on a tour with Ciao Italy and they placed us at the Grand Hotel De La Ville in Sorrento for a few days to explore the Amalfi Coast. The location was amazing, the staff very helpful, the room -- OMG the view of the volcano and Sea -- breathtaking, the breakfast buffet had everything one could think of to start your day. Beyond the loveliness of the hotel itself -- location, location, location!! We were able to spend our downtime walking into town -- very short distance -- to enjoy eateries, shopping (got my Italian leather bag) and town itself. Simply amazing experience!!
