It is spotlessly clean and the location is perfect for anyone who has things to do at Harvard. Nice public room with a fire in the grate. I used to stay at the Inn before it changed hands, and I actually really liked its overstuffed, over-decorated opulence (and great breakfast). But the inn, with its minimalist and somewhat spartan taste now, is still very comfortable. They also were kind and let leave my car in its parking place even after I checked out of my room. (It isn't easy to find someone to ask--they didn't seem to have seen my email, but a text found its recipient. But once found, they were generous and flexible.) Good value for the price.

The fact that you encounter no humans working for the hotel. I reserved two rooms, and I got endless communication from both Thatch and Booking.com about first the reservation, then that my stay was upcoming, then that I was going to get the entry codes, then I got the entry codes, then I had to verify my identification (for both rooms), and then I got the codes again, and then more confirmations. These communications came for both rooms and came both from Thatch and Booking. It was endless. And as I was standing outside the door trying to find the codes in all of that, I got the request to verify my identify again (for both rooms). It was cold out, and aggravating, and I felt like everything had been repeated so many times that I couldn't easily find the info I actually needed (the codes).

Exterior of the house is beautiful, and the location is great.

The listing said there was parking, but it wasn’t clear you had to reserve and pay separately, and by the time we tried, there was none (major annoyance). We hated the decor (all black and grey and modern) and the lack of staff (buzz yourself in with a code), the place felt soulless on the inside, which is a real shame for a beautiful two hundred year old New England colonial house! There were a few annoying things - no comfortable chair, just a plastic desk chair, ugly little LED lights, no bar of soap(!) hairdryer with only one setting that burned your hands.
