Historic Mardi Gras Inn

The Inn is old, but close to the French Market end of the French quarter. The neighborhood looks run down, but it was obliviously safe as there were MANY people walking around including single women. Everyone seems comfortable. We were upstairs. No elevator but we did fine.

We left luggage there prior to check-in time. But it was not watched or protected or locked up. Plumbing and paint could use some upgrade. Morning front desk was very friendly, but the afternoon not so. None in the evening (I guess after everyone had checked in. Probably small enough that front desk staff was too costly.

Location and Availability

The room was filthy and smelled like cigarettes and urine. If we had any other options in the area after a long drive- we would have left this room and demanded a refund. I took a clorox wipe to clean the floors and the wipe was black. We had no working light bulbs in the room. One lamp was working and the bathroom light. The grounds were clean and location was good but room was not worth the money at all.

Friendly staff, clean rooms with cold AC, perfect location.
