The Lodge at Bodega Bay

It was an nice bay area getaway, but some of the things were a bit dated or broken in the hotel. It has a nice location near a walking trail with bird watching and close to restaurants. Pros: - Came to a room with a welcome note and small present - very thoughtful - Very nice service especially at Drakes - super nice staff and helpful and responsive - Beautiful view - Hot tub - Clean gym with spa water - Hot chocolate / wine hour / coffee in the AM - Nice coffee machine in the room Cons: - There was a conference/meeting/get together and these people were LOUD until like 2am - wish there was security or front desk enforcing the screaming / talking loudly past rooms and running around. Felt more like a motel than a hotel. - Sauna wasn't working - never got hot despite keeping it on for a significant time to warm up - was really bummed since we were looking forward to using it - Clean up at pool and missing towels - guests weren't as clean and there were a lot of wet towels laying around and trash and there weren't a lot of clean towels ready to be used - The TV wifi connection to cast from your phone didn't quite work

The Lodge at Bodega Bay offers a wonderful stay, with its various room options, great dining, and nearby trails. A real gem of the area.

I recently stayed at The Lodge at Bodega Bay for the second time this year. I attend an annual golf tournament at The Links at Bodega Bay and have always enjoyed staying at the Lodge, so this time I decided to bring our executive leadership team for a retreat — and we could not have been more pleased. From start to finish, the team truly catered to every need. They provided a lovely meeting space for an afternoon of team building, arranged a fantastic tasting at Sonoma Coast Vineyards, and hosted a decadent, unforgettable dinner at Drakes, their on-site signature restaurant. We began the evening with cocktails by the fire pit and concluded with a private dinner for 12 — the service and culinary execution were outstanding. Our group is well-traveled and passionate about food and wine, and everyone was genuinely impressed. The next day, some of the team enjoyed the spa (and were absolutely over the moon), while I golfed with a few colleagues. We loved the experience so much that my wife was begging us to stay another night — and several of us extended our stays because we simply didn’t want to leave. We also had the pleasure of meeting the General Manager, Jason Reiplinger, and learned that his wife is the Executive Chef. We were lucky enough to meet her as well — she was incredibly warm, welcoming, and immensely talented. I cannot recommend The Lodge at Bodega Bay highly enough. 10 out of 10. We’ll absolutely be back.

I can't say enough good things about Lodge at Bodega Bay! I spent three nights there for a solo birthday trip in early January, and it was exactly what I needed! My room was gorgeous - a vaulted ceiling, peaceful color palette and tasteful coastal-inspired decor, a fireplace with provided log and matches, an amazing soaking tub, large shower - and the private deck with pristine views was a perfect place to relax in the morning and at sunset. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and everyone seemed to truly be aiming to provide the best experience possible for guests (hospitality at its best, without feeling at all stuffy or forced). Many people mention the hot tub in reviews of the Lodge at Bodega Bay, and it is wonderful; but I personally loved the (very-well-heated) pool! Because I was there during what I'm assuming is the off-season, I always was the only person in the pool; and despite nighttime temps in the upper 40s, the water never felt chilly, not even when first stepping into the pool. Swimming laps under very clear and star-filled skies, with the occasional sounds of sea lions barking in the distance, was one of many highlights of my stay that will stick with me. I had two dinners at Drake's Fireside Lounge, one was eaten outside by the firepit, the other at the lowered end of the bar. The first meal was ordered from the Fireside Lounge menu, the second from the restaurant menu (both menus are available when dining at the Fireside Lounge, and everything I ate from both menus was delicious and thoughtfully prepared). Cocktails also were solid (I stuck to classics - gin martini, Manhattan, and was pleasantly surprised that they stocked Benedictine to prepare a vieux carre to enjoy at the end of my meal). There was a wine and cheese happy hour from 4 to 5pm on weekday afternoons during my stay. A different winery poured tastings each day I was there, and it provided a nice opportunity for interaction with other guests. In short, I only have praise for this fantastic place, the care they put into making guests feel welcome, the beautiful and well-maintained facilities, and the overall experience of my stay!

Best place to stay in bodega Bay, with absolutely no comparison to other properties. The rooms, amenities, and grounds are all well maintained. Drake’s (the restaurant) doesn’t disappoint, and even if fully booked, the fireside lounge is a great spillover space. French toast with compote and cornflake crust, and the waffles, were both a treat.

This is my favorite hotel, I stay a couple times a year. I love having a fireplace in my hotel room, the restaurant is a sensation to my taste buds, everyone that works there is a delight. I have been staying a couple times a year since 2020. When they have been booked and I have tried another place, I do not feel as safe, comfortable, and appreciated. Love this place!

Beautiful property and the staff was amazing.

The only thing we didn’t like was having to leave.
