Boca Brava Lodge

Boca Brava Lodge is a hidden island gem, perfect for relaxing and reconnecting with nature. Tucked away on Isla Boca Brava, this peaceful retreat offers stunning ocean views, jungle trails, and total tranquility. Wildlife is all around—from howler monkeys in the trees to tropical birds soaring overhead. It’s the kind of place where you can truly slow down and soak in the beauty of island life.

We love Boca Brava Lodge because it’s peaceful, wild, and surrounded by nature. The ocean views, jungle sounds, and wildlife make it the perfect place to relax—and the staff was absolutely incredible, making our stay even more special.

The property exceeded our expectations. We got an up close and personal view of the howler monkeys. The food and staff were awesome!

I went to this place a few times 20 years ago. It remains an excellent value. It’s close enough to Boca Chica (mainland) to feel secluded without being far away. I went to one of the beaches on the island & it was perfect. It took me awhile to master flushing the toilet correctly but then it was fine. The tropical drinks (non alcoholic) & menu items were excellent.

It is family run with a very chill atmosphere.

Meals were served in the main dining room and overall were very tasty. Prices were reasonable and everything was freshly prepared. Food and drinks were available all day which was nice since there were no fridges or coffee makers in the rooms. The beach was gorgeous although it's about a 15 minute walk with inclines. This lodge is not for anyone who has mobility issues. The 80 steps up from the water alone are a workout. Staff were very accommodating and helpful, but you definitely need to know Spanish or use Google translate to ensure good communication. They booked our tours but we ended up on the wrong tour (beach instead of snorkelling)and the price was not as advertised. The view from our balcony was lovely and we appreciated the AC and fan.

The food was quite good and freshly prepared although there were a few things that could have been offered such as a variety of salad dressings, milk or cream instead of condensed milk, real butter instead of a substitute etc. The fruit plate consisted of mushy bananas, pineapple and watermelon. Even though I asked for a description before ordering, there was no mango. It would have been nice to have drinkable water in the room as well as a couple of glasses.

I did not stay here as it was not accessible by car. The hotel is only accessible by boat. This was not mentioned in the property description. I cancelled as I could not reach the hotel. My credit card was charged nevertheless. I would appreciate a refund and would love stay at the hotel another time, knowing that boat transportation must be arranged in advance. It sounds lovely.
