Boca Brava Lodge

The water taxi ride was good…the place was clean very secluded private… the views were amazing… the food super delicious… the monkeys were right there.

Huge location with fantastic views. Even with very hot weather, you find nice windy places to refresh. Big room with nice terrace. Very good cooking in the restaurant. Very very helpful staff. Although we have heard the monkeys but not seen them, we had a very pleasant stay. We saw a lot of birds during our mangrove excursion.

Great location on an almost uninhabited island with raw nature. We woke up a few times because of the monkeys that were climbing the trees in front of the room. Beatifull beach is only on 20m walk from the room.

It's slight expensive for what you get. I think if they would make it cheaper more people would stay there because for now we were the only ones staying there..

Any time you have to make a special effort to get to a place, it usually ends up being a positive and unforgettable experience. Located on an island off the coast of Boca Chica, we needed a water taxi to get us to the promised land. But it was a short, five-minute trip that took us to a place that was a world away. We had more spider monkeys and howler monkeys for company than we had guests. Seafood was fresh, fresh, fresh, and in spite of us being in a place where transporting fresh produce to it is a bit of a challenge, each meal had a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.

There are signs of deferred maintenance, but we understand how difficult it has to be to get the most basic materials all the way over to this ecolodge. Even though seafood was fresh, more than one dish we ordered was overcooked, which was a shame. One thing that we found irritating is that everything on the food menu is a la carte. Many items, including sides, are an extra charge. I think it would be better to charge a higher, all-inclusive price than to 'nickel-and-dime' guests.

The male host was gruff and not very welcoming. The female host was warm and delightful.

The location is super unique, it even was a bit of an adventure finding the place, but that only contributed to how much we liked the place. Luis helped us arrange everything with a smile and made our stay very pleasant. You are staying at a lodge, so that means you are close to nature, so that also means the occasional bug or leaf is in your room. But we found the place very clean, the restaurant offers delicious food and tours offered by the lodge were excellent! So if you are not sure about visiting Bocas Chica, be sure you will end up in a little hidden treasure.

The owner and staff were excellent! The walks to beaches were great, and you could walk around anywhere on the island as you please. We were visited by Howler monkeys which was a bonus.

The noisy neighbours and their whining child the first 2 days. The units are very close to each other so noisy disruptive clients are an issue.
