"Enjoyable but needs TLC & the White Sands split will be a real loss"

6.0

To our pleasant surprise, the rooms were fairly modern (we had the basic entry level, ground floor, garden view), well cleaned & mini fridge topped up. I would have liked more drawer / shelving storage. The shower has a design flaw as the flow overspills the bath / shower screen & you get a wet room - this became a safety issue for our toddler. The sealant also showed signs of black mould. Our patio didn't receive sunlight so items remained damp (as a warning in case you hoped to hand wash / dry). Our main issue was that upon check-in we were told the crib we had requested in advance was in our room - it wasn't. It took a few days to appear. As a warning to others, there is no guarantee & dependent on availability. We found this alarming for what is meant to be a family resort. The check-in & check-out process was tedious. We weren't allowed to depart via our transfer bus without showing paper tickets (which weren't even inspected). This could be forewarned at check-in & overall, streamlined. The check-in process was slow, with long queues - not appreciated after a long haul & transfers. Guest services is also painfully slow. As a booking with 2 rooms, we couldn't utilise the app for reservations (an improvement suggestion). Quite often, there are 2 guest services seats available + staff on reception, but only 1 guest services advisor. They either need more staff, or to process people more quickly as the time they take to go through the booking is very, very long. We also changed a reservation using the team in Kantenah, and White Sands had no record (luckily we retained our paper copy). We also booked the collection of our luggage for check-out (they were late, so my husband went to chase, and the transport team had no record - we could have still been waiting). For future visitors, it will be a real shame when the base level can no longer access White Sands. While we actually preferred Kantenah & Colonial, when visiting for 2 weeks, the extended access helps to add variety. Will be interesting, but suspect they will not make Kantenah any cheaper - even though access to less. Poseidon was also closed & seemed a loss for that end of the beach. As our first holiday with a baby, we did enjoy the special Raggs breakfast & the general evening entertainment offered throughout. We also really enjoyed the "jungle" feel of the resort, the wildlife (although sadly we didn't see a monkey) and the plentiful (sheltered) walkways (we preferred to walk and found the carts weren't necessary). The resort doesn't use a towel card system but the downside is that there can be a shortage of towels (at White Sands, we were left without for a whole afternoon). Having joined a Facebook page for reviews, we were on edge regarding the food quality but actually we were able to enjoy the majority of foods. We particularly enjoyed the Gran El Zul (athough the omelette station needs to be decongested & the ice cream was always melted). We also enjoyed the sushi at lunch in the Hacienda. We did not enjoy the Mexican restaurant (pork knuckles & grass hoppers) and puddings generally looked great, but tasted of nothing or too much gelatin (same encountered in Bahia Principe chain in Mexico). Regarding the Hibatchi / Sumptori - I would give them 1* for their pushy service. This is the only restaurant where we were presented with a tripadvisor QR code & makes you question if there is some form of competition between the restaurants. As a guest, it is particularly unhelpful when I log on to Tripadvisor to find out reviews for the hotel which are then skewed with the restaurant. Our server was Jesus and this should be stopped. I also tried requesting a different sushi starter as part of the hibatchi experience due to dietary requirements & was denied which is a shame as it wouldn't have taken long to accommodate.

"Perfect Family Holiday Getaway"

10.0

Grand Palladium Resort in Mexico delivered an outstanding all-inclusive family Christmas experience. Every staff member encountered was exceptionally helpful and polite, enhancing our stay throughout. Dining Highlights The à la carte restaurants served delicious meals and provided unique dining experiences that stood out. Definitely try the Argentinian steakhouse and the Brazilian themed restaurant. Dessert at the Mexican restaurant was fun too! Mexican restaurant also offered tableside guacamole preparation. Thank you, Omar for my customized omelets every morning! Amenities and Grounds The grounds, beach, and pool areas were absolutely beautiful and meticulously maintained. Our room was spacious and lovely, with thorough housekeeping service ensuring everything stayed spotless. Entertainment Nightly shows exceeded expectations, particularly the dancers — they are outstanding! Most notably the rock and roll performance and thrilling fire show on the beach. Activities we very much enjoyed the Oceanside fitness activities like yoga, Pilates, and the trampoline class. Aqua fit was good to get our bodies moving too. Adults enjoyed the Oceanside cooking classes, we will definitely be making ceviche at home to remember this experience. Thank you Carlos! We highly recommend Grand Palladium for families seeking memorable vacations. 5+ stars!!!

"★★★☆☆ – Pleasant family stay with some drawbacks-3.5stars review"

6.0

Overall, our stay at Palladium Hotel was pleasant. We visited as a family of five—two adults and three kids—on our first trip to Mexico. We booked two rooms, stayed for seven nights, and spent most of our time at the pools, with a few days at the beach. The resort is clean, and staff were friendly and helpful. Access to sun lounges and towels can be limited, especially during the morning and afternoon. Arriving early, around 8 AM, seemed to work best. We did experience issues with both rooms, including a strong mold smell. Staff placed a dehumidifier in one room, which helped somewhat, but the issue was not fully resolved. The pillows in both rooms also had an old smell, and we requested replacements. While this may have been room-specific, it did impact our comfort. Booking restaurants was challenging. Unless you are part of Family Selection or the paid rewards program, you need to line up very early (around 7 AM) to see the concierge, and even then some restaurants were unavailable. That said, the à la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner options offered a reasonable variety. Bars across the resort were easily accessible, with good drink options for both adults and kids. Overall, the food was fine, and despite the issues mentioned, we still enjoyed our stay.

"Avoid this place. Money trap. Not a 5 star resort"

2.0

Not a 5-Star Resort – Pure Money Trap The wait time is unacceptable — even for the buffet it was more than 45 minutes. All the restaurant are full. The service is poor, and the entire experience feels like a money trap designed to force you into upgrades. If you don’t upgrade, you are constantly told you have to pay extra. This is not a real 5-star resort by any standard. Yes, the room was clean, but there were no drawers at all, which is basic for any resort. Every single drink comes with an extra charge — even something simple like Havana Club costs $11 for a single shot. Again, unless you upgrade, expect to pay for every good drink. Don’t trust all the high ratings. Honestly, it feels like those ratings are inflated or company-driven, because the reality does not match what’s advertised. This is the worst resort experience I’ve had. I’ve traveled extensively and stayed at resorts in Honduras, Panama, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico (four times). Compared to all of those, this place does not come close to a true 5-star experience. Unfortunately, I’m booked here until January, and if I had the chance, I would absolutely cancel or change to another location. For your own sake, save your money and go somewhere else.

"Conscious contact"

Berenice was amazing. A perfect massage for me. I felt very cared for with exactly the right amount of pressure and the right amount of time spent on areas that held more tension. As a somatic specialist, I knew I was in good hands the moment I experienced Berenice’s touch. A sensitive and gifted Massage Therapist!

My wife and I got a couples massages twice with Victor and Rosel at the Spa. We did an 80 minute massage both times. They were incredible about communication and really know what they’re doing! Book with them. It’s a must do.
