"This was not a four star hotel. Average 3 star at best."

Staff were very pleasant. Hotel was clean. Good location very short walk from the station. Reasonable selection for breakfast including gluten free but omelettes were not available. Bed was comfortable.

The view from my room was obscured by scaffolding. Work was due to start at 8am. I was not informed of any of this before I went to the room. When I complained I was moved to another room and offered a complimentary drink. There is no room safe, you are advised to leave valuables with Reception. This is very unusual for a modern hotel. There was no mini fridge in the room. So no drinks could be kept cool and this was a big problem during the current heatwave. In a good 4 star hotel a mini fridge is standard. No complimentary water in the room on arrival. I paid for a 4 star hotel but ended up in a 3 star.
