Melbourne Kew Central Apartment Hotel

I liked that the property was constantly locked and you needed a key to get into the building - it felt very safe. I also liked the layout of our room, that it included a couch, a table for eating and a comfortable bed. The property also included complimentary undercover parking which was incredibly helpful.

I didn’t like that the property was unstaffed - I’m not sure if it was because we picked a long weekend to go, or if it’s always unstaffed, but it made the checkin a bit tricky as we had to call up and repeat instructions given to us over the phone. It was also confusing finding the entrance, once again I wouldn’t have found it if I hadn’t called up. We had a bit of trouble with our toilet not always flushing, and there wasn’t a lot of water pressure when we had showers. Other than that it was a comfortable stay.

Unclean, old, smelly

The location was ok. The room was slightly bigger than the average hotel room.

The room wasn't clean. The cups and plates weren't clean. The wine glasses clearly had been used and then not washed before we arrived (see photos as proof). We asked for an additional rollaway bed for an adult to stay with us too, which cost us an additional $30 per night, but when we arrived there was only a cot instead. We asked to have this cot removed and the adult bed to be brought to our room, given we paid for it. We called the phone number multiple times to request this bed change and there was never any answer. So, we emailed about this bed change, and we had no response. The extra adult had to find somewhere else to stay since they obviously wouldn't fit in a child's cot. Even though we had no response from either the phone calls or email, a staff member showed up at about 11.30pm on our first night with the adult bed and changed it with the cot, however it was too late at this point because the extra adult already had to find somewhere else to stay. Yet we didn't get a refund for the extra $30 per night (so a total of $60 for the 2 nights we stayed). So, we were stuck paying for an extra bed that we couldn't use because of the hotel's stuff up and because the bed exchange happened too late for us to use it. There was mould in the shower, and mould on the windowsills. Unacceptable. We won't be staying here again.

Nothing. It is poorly looked after.

Everything. Window could shut making safety a real concern. Issue was casually addressed. Moved me to a non-smokers room where clearly someone had been smoking. Went to use a dinner plate that hadn’t been washed. I chose to leave this place and find a room elsewhere. Shocking condition.
