Elliott House Inn

Horrible experience! Very rundown! Needs a lot of updating, mattress old, pillows a rock, noisy heater, a disaster and Worse of all the rooms are not serviced.. no fresh towels, no cleaning!

My husband and I loved staying here. Jeremy is very kind and accommodating. Large courtyard has a beautiful fireplace with plenty of comfortable seating. Inn is conveniently located to shopping and restaurants. Parking across the street from the Inn is also convenient.

Nov 1, 2025. This was the worst experience ever, discusting, the room had unbearable mold smell, we could not stay in it without open door. I felt nauseous in it. It was supposed to be a romantic anniversary stay in DT Charleston. We got a room on the bottom floor and when asked for a better room the staff sarcasticly pointed out to us twice (at check-in) that we got the cheapest room. ( basically you get what you pay for) False advertising- room was beat up, closest to the street, both room and bathroom were not the ones in the photo. It wasn't the cheapest room either, for $360/night on last minute sale from way over $400. Our anniversary was ruined because of not being able to enjoy the room in that strong mold smell.

I scored this room on Hotel Tonight for $160. The best thing about is its location, in historic downtown Charleston next-door to the fabulous restaurant Husk. I arrived too late for the free wine and cheese evening. The room is simple, no extra bedding no bathrobes fairly good mattress. Bathroom is small but adequate. I see that the going price is over $300 a night, and I certainly wouldn't pay that. But for the price I paid it was a good location and starting point for my walk of Charleston. When I checked in they told me there are free bikes available for riding around the city, as well.

Basic maintenance is lacking. Rusted shower curtain rod. Sheets had black spots, towels were rough, broken blinds, back patio needs power washing, towel hook falling off. Shower head is sub-standard. No patio heaters to enjoy the patio in cooler temperatures, outdoor fireplace not working, and this is the only common area. First floor rooms are noisy, you hear footsteps and voices from 2nd floor rooms. I really question how this hotel was recently recognized by Condé Nast. Hard to trust Condé Nast going forward. Afternoon wine and cheese was a postive.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The location couldn’t have been better—it was close to everything I wanted to see and made getting around super easy. Everything was within walking distance around the hotel, food, coffee shops, convenient stores, bars, restaurants, King St, Rainbow row, Museums, the beach. Although it was right in the middle of everything, I didn't hear a sound. It wasn't loud at all. They also provided coffee in the morning, and wine & cheese spread everyday from 5-6pm. Super cute boutique feel hotel. I’d definitely recommend this spot for anyone looking for a great location as their home base.

It's in the heart of the French Quarter and it's easy to get around, especially with the free transit bus a block away. Parking is $20 a day in the lot directly across the street. It's right between 3 restaurants (we found 82 Queen > Poogans Porch, but both were good. You definitely want reservations.) Check in was easy enough. We took the small elevator up to our floor and when we opened the door our hearts sank a little bit. It was not the bright oasis shown on line, but a small, slightly dingy and cramped space. Bed was foam and pretty firm on a platform. The pillows were abundant, but were small and uncomfortable (think gym towels stuffed into a pillowcase). Shower set up was a weird 5 nozzle affair, but the bigger issue was the lack of hot water.10 degrees above tepid was the best we could get often. They had coffee and hot water available in the patio in the AM and wine and cheese from 5 until (exactly) 6 pm. Turns out I like white wine, grapes, and cheese on a hot afternoon.

Wonderful location to stay in Charleston! Clean and comfortable. Coffee and tea available in the morning and wine in the afternoon. Great restaurants on both sides of the Elliot House. Highly recommend staying here.

Very convenient location. Enjoyed the courtyard with evening cheese and wine provided. Had amazing meals at Husk (dinner), 82 Queen (dinner) and Poogan's Porch (brunch). (These are all next door to the Inn and are some of the city's best restaurants). Room was clean and sufficient for our needs, though may be more outdated than some may like.

Older hotel with so much charm! Check in was easy. Parked in garage across the street (they forget to take the parking full sign down. Go in anyway) beautiful courtyard, roomy clean well appointed rooms. Wine and cheese in the courtyard from 5-6p. Great location. Entire French quarter is walkable. Friendly staff. Our room had it's own private patio. We stayed on ground level. No bugs. Everything is expensive there, including this hotel but it was by far the most bang for your buck! Would absolutely stay here again!
