The Whiteface Lodge

Great hotel, would always stay there again. Huge rooms, very friendly staff, very good breakfast (coming from Europe: the breakfast is rather American style, but you certainly don't need any lunch). The building, the staff and everything they offer show that they aim to be a five star hotel where you are happy to stay for a week or two. We very much enjoyed the pool and the different sport faciilities they offer for free. The scenery is stunning, and if it is raining, you can spend days inside the hotel without getting bored. The decoration is beautiful, it really feels like a (huge) cabin. When you are there, rent some bikes and ride along the old railroad track which has been converted into a wonderful bike path!

Obviously, Lake Placid has a winter season and a summer season. We were there in May, so somewhat in between. That was nice because it was quiet and we did some great biking and walking. However, the hotel was not 100% transparent beforehand that some of their things were closed as well. E.g. there were no boats and no other water activities available yet although the weather was nice enough. The hotel aims at (and is) top class and shows that in it's price as well. Everything looking like it is made out of wood, the room was somewhat on the darker side. But who would want to spend time in the room in such a place, anyhow?

Bed super uncomfortable, pillows flat, dirty patio furniture, dirty carpet in the room, front desk staff could be friendlier and more informative about what the property offers and where everything is located

Gorgeous grounds and hotel

Very good location, everything about the room was nice, Mountain View’s from Pool/Hot tub. All the employees I encountered were great. Very fitting architecture. Heated floors in the bathroom.
