THB Tropical Island

We stayed at the THB Tropical Island for 28 days. They have two large swimming pools although one was being refurbished at the time we were there,and other smaller pools within the blocks of apartments. Free gratis boules, beach volley ball, football and other activities are spread around the grounds. The grounds are set out nicely, stocked with mature palms and other shrubs and were manicured most days but with that maturity comes wear and tear and the buildings are looking tired and need a scrape and a paint. We tried the restaurant a few times and the food was good so if you’re going half or full board enjoy, however if you’re self-catering read on. The apartments for full self-catering failed on two counts for us, the utensils supplied fall short of what is required to self-cater for any prolonged length of time, and the apartment was not ready for habitation because of the following, one of the two rings on the cooker didn’t work, the control settings had been scrubbed off over time so initially it was a guessing game as to what the settings were, only one shelf in the fridge and no ice box, two blunt kitchen knives, a peeler that bent when you used it and no chopping board or scissors. Only one socket to serve a kettle, coffee machine and toaster. One medium saucepan and one large nonstick frying pan that was so big the two pans couldn’t sit on the hob rings centrally no washing up liquid, pan scrub or dishcloth, and the air con controls were wiped off making it hard to comply with the request to use it sparingly. We complained to reception, but they said “every room has the same equipment” but I know that other apartments had smaller nonstick omelette size pans which would have suited us better and one had washing up liquid and a carton of water and later that week they received a complimentary bottle of champagne. On the 3rd day the hob was repaired, and we received a used chopping board, but when we were out a brand new one arrived. We contacted the holiday rep, and she said sorry about the pans but “I did ask reception”. She should have insisted really. On the 4th day a new large nonstick pan was delivered. On the 5th day the rep rang saying there were no scissors available and she couldn’t get an adapter for the one socket. On the 8th day I bought a small nonstick pan, scissors and vegetable peeler. On day 12 a new pan scrub and dish cloth were dropped off so services seem to be a bit random with different holiday makers experiencing different levels of service. We were told by an official that the hotel was transitioning from an all-inclusive and half board to self-catering and they were “not quite there yet” so I wonder why this travel company allowed their name to be leveled against a hotel that wasn’t adequately equipped or capable of offering a self-catering service that a four-star hotel should be able to deliver. PS the room facilities advertised on their web site may exist in some apartments but not in all rooms as we found out.

La atención por parte del personal muy bien, muy atentos. El hotel es un resort grande que tiene una piscina por zona, más la piscina enorme. El buffet de desayuno muy completo. A 10 minutos andando de la playa y fácil de aparcar.

Lo que menos me gustó y que realmente me pareció un timo, fue el spa. Cuesta 5€ por hora y tiene una piscina, el jacuzzi y la de agua fría pero lo peor es que TODAS están frías y en el sitio hace frío. Por lo que pagar por algo que no puedes disfrutar me parece un timo.

A good sized room and balcony.

Too far from the seafront, basic facilities, pool staff cleaning pool area @ 7am with people on holiday trying to sleep, ants/tiny flies all over the apartment especially in the morning and late evening times. The fridge didn't have a Freezer compartment, so we couldn't keep anything frozen.

Lovely location, very calm, quite sheltered from the Lanzarote wind!

Large friendly hotel. Several pools and all facilities

Struttura molto grande, piscine ovunque, ogni Struttura ha la sua piscina, inoltre ne ne sono altre più grandi con scivoli e fuochi per bambini e ragazzi. Cibo molto vario e d ottima.qualita, e ad un prezzo molto conveniente. La mezza pensione costa 35€ al giorno adulti, e 17,5 € al giorno per bambini sotto i 12 anni. La spiaggia più vicina é a 3 minuti d'auto, volendo si può raggiungere anche a piedi, ed è molto bella. Supermarket ben fornito. Camere spaziose e ben tenute. Unica pecca, sono le lenzuola e coperte sul letto matrimoniale, che sono per letti singoli, ma sembra d'aver capito che alle canarie funziona così.
