Un lugar tranquilo para pasar unos días en familia. Tiene varias actividades para los niños y, al contar con varias piscinas dentro del alojamiento, no suele haber aglomeraciones. Es ideal para familias. Además, el bufé ofrece bastante variedad y la comida está bien.

Los apartamentos podrían mejorar tanto en mantenimiento como en limpieza. Si se mejoraran estos aspectos, el complejo sería de 10.

Good breakfasts and lunches. Warm, uncrowded pools.

The ceiling in the room had peeling paint or plaster, and the freshly painted ceiling didn't look very good.

I came here with my daughter for 7 nights. When we arrived we both thought room was pretty standard. There was a damp smell and what smelt like sewers in the bathroom. We bought an air freshener as we thought we will be out most of the time. The first issue we had was the safe was locked while open so we couldn’t set a new code we went to reception to report this and someone came to fix it but we still couldn’t use it. So just carried all our personal documents and valuables with us. I had to ask for a heater for the room as there was a massive gap when the door was locked and the draft was terrible. The first heater that arrived into the room didn’t work so back to reception to ask for another. Our room was so cold we used blankets when sitting on the broken sofa bed to watch the only 3 English Channels available as there was no tv in the bedroom. I know we can’t do much about the weather but on day 4 it was a total washout and my daughter left our room to go to the indoor supermarket for a tin of coke. She went down the stairs inside and managed to slip and fall down 3 stairs at the bottom. When she asked the shop assistant for some ice as she had hurt her arm she was made to pay for it. I went to reception to complain and they didn’t seem to understand me. It was extremely busy with check-ins. I went back to the room and realised I had no kettle to even make a cup of tea so guess what back to reception again for a kettle to which they thought weird there wasn’t one but someone brought one to our room. My daughter took an asthma attack during our stay and got so distressed made herself sick with the thought of having to go to hospital in a different country, thankfully I was able to get her settled with the continuous use of her inhalers we didn’t need to attend hospital. The rooms are dirty and full of damp and mould we had pieces flaking from the ceiling in the bedroom above the bed falling down onto the bed. Damp stains on the bedroom ceiling. The runners for the wardrobe doors were shockingly dirty. As was the bedroom floor. Dirty tiles in bathroom on floor and walls. Mould on bathroom door in gap that what I think is to let the steam out as if you open the bathroom window there is a walkway behind the window so not very private. Massive gap in main door into room when locked. Entertainment was mainly for French guests. Thursday night was bingo night and although it free for a bottle of wine, one small bingo card with 15 numbers to mark and a cocktail stick to poke through the number if you can understand French and Spanish to know what number to poke. Tuesday night was French karaoke night. Food in restaurants at dinner was very basic and not very warm needed to use the microwave to heat it. The pizza restaurant was closed a few nights and when asked why it’s not open was told if no one comes within 30mins it gets closed. Pools outside very cold and full of debris lying in the bottom. Never saw anyone cleaning out the pools. Only saw them testing the water once. Guests smoking around the pools when the signs say no smoking at pool. Never saw a holiday rep during our stay. When looking on internet at this hotel most sites say 4-star. And when I booked I was told 4-star and shown pictures that looked stunning but this certainly should not be advertised as 4-star.

We stayed at the Tropical Island last month. The hotel is located about 15 mins walk from the main Dorada beach and maybe 20/25 mins from the restaurant area on the promenade and the marina. The complex itself is huge, split into 2 areas called Tropical and Island - they are essentially a mirror image of each other. The complex is almost like a little village with each block having their own pool - these are heated (during the winter months) which was fantastic for our stay. There is also 2 large pools and an adult only pool and separate lounging areas. The complex is very well maintained with grounds staff and cleaners out every morning cleaning the common areas. There is a small grocery shop on site for the essentials, aswell as a pizza restaurant, sports bar (never saw anyone in it the whole time we were there) and I think an italian restaurant too. There is an Aldi less than 10 mins walk away which has eveything you need if self catering and much better selection and cheaper than the onsite shop. We did self catering and dined out every night in the abundance of restaurants nearby. The breakfast buffet did look very enticing though, huge selection to choose from. Our apartment (premium pool view) was on the Tropical side and was south facing so our balcony had the sun until about 4pm which was great. The apt was cleaned and the towels were changed everyday apart from Sunday. There was a smell in the bathroom on the day we arrived but a quick call to reception and someone was up to sort it out. Yes the apartments are a little dated but I understand the deluxe apts have been renovated-if you really want to pay out more money. The apartment had everything we needed to cook our breakfasts with 2 ring hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and plenty of cups, plates, pots, cutlery etc. Cons: * Kids Mini disco was awful, the worst I have ever been at in any hotel. Its just the SAME 4 or 5 songs EVERY night! Why can't it be mixed up a little. It would make it so much more enjoyable for kids, and adults too! The animation team looked so fed up doing it. The mini club was very poor also. No interaction from the staff, kids just left to entertain themselves. My son would only stay 15 minutes. * Main pool is freezing, waste of time having all those slides when nobody can use them. Perhaps they are warm during the summer. * Needs to be more lighting at night time in the grounds, particularly around the Dome area, lighting is very low and anyone could walk in off the street - the back gate was open every day we went in or out. However, overall we had a great week at Tropical Island and would return here again. Tip - ask for a key card for the back gate -cuts down about 10 mins walk on getting to the beach rather than having to go all the way out the main reception and around. It costs €10 but you get it back when you return the card on check out.

Great location for families, lots of small pools perfect for the kids.. On arrival the reception staff fully explain the layout of the site so you know what is where.

We wanted spa facilities and sadly this is not the place for top-class spa facilities but they were cheap so in the end we moved. The staff were very understanding and we got a refund after leaving early.

We had a lovely time .. bit far out for people who can't walk into The marina or playa blanca but not a problem for us.. apartment was basic as expected but very nice...

We didn't like the sports bar.. personal taste

Just spent a week here and certainly wasn’t disappointed. From an easy check in with friendly staff, asking for a specific room done with no problem . The hotel and grounds are huge and very well kept, plenty of comfy sunbeds and could always find a peaceful spot. Room was big , separate bedroom and a lovely sunny balcony overlooking one of the many swimming pools. cleaned 6 days from 7 to a great standard . It is a 20 minute walk down to beach, shops, marina etc and as a 66 yr old I had no problems at all. Can’t comment on food as didn’t eat there ( too many restaurants around) Overall it was very good value for money so can’t understand the negative comments.
