To start, when we first arrived, no one showed us to our room, and no one showed us around or really explained anything to us, so we had to figure everything out ourself the whole time we were there. Every other time I have been on holiday, someone has always taken our luggage to our room, so I found this a little odd, but maybe this is the norm in the Canaries.
The actual room decor was nice, and it was very spacious, there were however areas of water damage / general maintenance issues though, and this followed throughout the whole hotel, with chipped floors etc. The shower constantly alternated between cold, and scalding hot - so much so I couldn’t even wash my hair, due to having sunburn and the temperature of the shower being unbearable, no matter what setting it was placed at. Other reviews have mentioned this previously, and obviously nothing has been done.
The location of the hotel is brilliant, very close to the dunes, to the Yumbo center, to the beach.
The pool areas are of decent quality. There is a nice vibe around the pool and the animation team clearly work very hard day and night. Once again, the entertainment is mainly focused around the children, there is however pool aerobics and Greece shows for the adults.
The food is absolutely abysmal. If you are a vegetarian, then I hope you like pizza and chips as that’s all you will be eating. The food is very poorly labelled and inconsistent. For example, they were clearly serving vegetable paella, and then another day paella with ham in, but the sign only read “paella”. I asked staff on a couple of occasions to clarify if certain food had meat in, but none of them understood me or spoke any English. I know we are in Spain and not everything is catered for British people, but some clarification on food should be expected. It worries me to think of those with allergies. One night my girlfriend had some noodles, they had peanuts in, but wasn’t labelled.
On the last lunch we had here, I picked up a “vegetable wrap” which quite clearly had chicken in.
The snack bar contained hot dogs and burgers, again, no vegetarian option. The “healthy bar” they advertise contains some weird combination of banana juice etc.
Other than this, they just put out any stale pizza that wasn’t eaten at lunch.
The drinks are poor quality. The “cocktails” are pre-made out of a drinks dispenser.
I’m so happy we only stayed here for 4 nights, as if it was a longer holiday, you would have to eat out a lot of the time. The food is extremely repetitive, with staples of rice, potatoes, chips, constantly repeated with minimal meat options. The fish was of very poor quality according to my girlfriend.
The hotel is over run with children, who make lots of noise and run around constantly, which is of course to be expected of children on holiday. I did on one occasion see a child drop some food tongs onto the floors and just pick them up and put them back onto the buffet, the staff just let this happen. If you are a childless couple, expect lots of screaming babies and children.
The service here is none existent. You fetch your own drinks. You seat yourself. You aren’t asked if everything is okay. Aside from one gentleman with glasses, I found the staff to be quite unhelpful and blunt. You aren’t made to feel very welcome.
The cleaners came in to clean the room everyday, they done a very good job and the overall cleanliness of the hotel was of a good standard.
Overall, would rerun to Gran Canaria, certainly not too this hotel, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend anyone to come here without children.
