The Meritage Resort and Spa

This place is dated and not worth the money they charge. The bar is way too loud to enjoy your own group. And what is with the toilet being inside a shower door?

My wife and I stayed at the Meritage as part of our honeymoon. We booked a standard king bedroom, but when they found out it was our honeymoon they gave us a complimentary upgrade to the grand cru suite. This made our stay even more memorable. We are extremely appreciative of the upgrade! Also, the room service was great and the spa was a great treat as well! We will definitely be staying at the Meritage when we return to Napa.

Cannot thank Timothy enough. We were looking to ship our wine home and after initially being told Meritage could not help, Timothy stepped in and assured us it could be done. He walked us through everything that needed to be done so that our wine would be shipped and we could continue to enjoy our final evening in Napa. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay at the Meritage.

It was our last night here in Napa and we stopped by the front desk to have our purchased wine bottles shipped home. This was something our tour guide had specifically suggested to everyone in our group, ensuring us that our hotel was able to do so. Upon stopping at the front desk, we were told that this was not something Meritage would be able to help with and that unfortunately most outside local shippers were closing soon for the day so we might be out of luck. Panicked, we stepped aside to figure out what options we might be left with, as we only had carry-on luggage (with no additional room to spare). We stopped back at the front desk some time later to ask about potentially holding our wine case, if we could get a courier to pick up and ship to us. Timothy kindly informed us that we did not need to worry and that Meritage did indeed work with another company to ship wine from the hotel and apologized for any miscommunication we had previously received. He walked us through the form and answered all questions we had along to way. We walked away feeling like we could finally enjoy our last night in Napa knowing it was all going to work out.

I looked for a place to stay for my 45th birthday and since we’d never been to Napa, we decided this would be our first time. Looked up hotels via the Amex portal and landed on the Meritage. When I pulled up to the hotel I was impressed with the property. Check in went smoothly and they were able to accommodate my early check-in and room upgrade. The room was a suite. It was spacious. My only complaint, and this is for any hotel really, bathrooms where the toilet room is not insulated with a real door. While me and the wife our comfortable, I’m sure she’d be fine without the SFX lol. The room was clean, and we had an amazing view of the vineyards. I will add that our shower head could use a deep cleaning or replacing. Had black goo or something coming from the seams. Bed was comfy, ac was great and the fridge worked and was quiet. The free bottle of wine was a nice touch too. Employees at the property were really nice and we appreciated the attentiveness. I’ve already recommended it to a colleague and we will stay again!

We thought it would be a luxe stay and it was horrifying. Zero service. Horrible food. The list could go on.

Everything. Customer service is frustrating and non existent. Televisions don’t work. Literally the worst experience of my life. If I were to ever come to Napa again, I would rent the furthest place from this hotel because it was such a bad experience. I’m starving, parched and incredibly annoyed that I paid $1200 for a stale lettuce sandwich and sheets stained with feces.

In reading the reviews from other travelers, I wonder why my experience was so vastly different. The Meritage obviously caters to large groups, overtly neglecting individual travelers. Aside from its mediocre operations, I had to beg for basic housekeeping services plus had one of the worse meals ever (Olive & Hay) delivered by a surly waitperson after being served the wrong meal in the first place (thank heavens that I don't have food allergies!) Given the beautiful part of the country in which The Meritage is located - that warrants equally beautiful hospitality - it's understaffed, substandard in appearance and amenities, and overall, unremarkable.

Had dinner at Olive & Hay and Wilbert was so lovely!! I got the bucatini and it was delicious. I actually came here last year for a work trip and have been excited to come back to the restaurant. It did not disappoint!

The check-in process was flawless. We were assisted by Timothy, who was so very pleasant and helpful. I know he had had a long day because we were here checking in for BottleRock later in the day and I’m sure one of the last to check in. Given how busy I’m sure this facility is today with check ins, I was very impressed by how professional and pleasant Timothy was! I would recommend The Meritage for all future Napa visits, business or pleasure.
