The Meritage Resort and Spa

We've stayed here a few times and enjoyed it well enough, but the Meritage is going down hill. There were way too many issues during this stay that indicate poor training, management, service, and no accountability. There's nothing like being overcharged for a stressful stay. We booked a couple's massage at the spa and requested a late checkout well in advance so we would have the option of showering/changing back in our room after our spa massages. Despite confirming this with the front desk AND hanging the "Enjoying Our Stay" DND sign on our door, at 11:15am, we heard 2 very light taps at the door that almost sounded like it was across the hall. Before we could say or do anything, housekeeping just barged in while I was completely nude in the bathroom! I didn't even have time to close the bathroom door before she opened the door without announcing herself!!! Can housekeeping not read or hear the TV?? Does the front desk not communicate late checkouts with housekeeping?? We were so shocked and stressed, we couldn't even enjoy our spa massages. Then at Meritage's Spa, the sauna was out of order, as was the jet tub in our couple's massage room. No discount or alternative perk was offered, just a "Sorry, they've been working on the sauna for a while." Also, both the front desk and Spa cashier said we'd receive a $200 each promo credit off our $500 couple's massage+room bundle. But instead, we were billed $350 extra on top of the $499 massages! We had to call management several times to correct our bill. No one ever mentioned that in order to receive the $200 per person promo, we'd have to pay an extra $150 each. What an ABSURDLY complicated "promo" - even the resort employees were confused by it! As for our hotel room, the bath towels were old and frayed and there were no bars or hooks to hang them up. We called maintenance in the evening to help get my jewelry that had fallen down the drain, but they no-showed, so we had to get it out ourselves the next morning. The compliments bottle of wine in our room was nice, but we should have been comped a night for housekeeping barging in without announcing who they were. The manager did waive 1 night of occupancy fee ($46) and issued $100 credit, but $900 for 1 night, 2 massages, french fries, and a lot of aggravation and STRESS is obscene. We are never going back!

I did not get the room I reserved in July 2025. I reserved two queens so I would not have to share a bed with anyone. We were there for a girls trip and had 4 rooms reserved. I had recommended the hotel because I had stayed before and enjoyed it and thought it was beautiful. Another friend called down from their room and asked for someone to clean the spider webs from their balcony but was not done. Another friend did not get the queen bed room they had request and also had to share a bed. It’s completely embarrassing to recommend something and have so many things go wrong. I feel like they were catering to the convention that was going on and did not care about us.

Location and room size

Broken sauna and room tub at Spa are unacceptable for how much they charge for services. Clothing and all merch in Spa store are exorbitantly priced. The team lacks training and common sense. Front desk personnel told us we'd receive $200 off our couples' massage, which turned out to be false. We had a late check out approved in advance (to finish our spa services) and a Do Not Disturb door hanger outside our door and yet the maid STILL WALKED INTO OUR ROOM after lightly tapping at the door. I was completely undressed and she didn't even give time to respond. Unacceptable, we will never be back!

We were extremely upcharged for our room. The photos of the pools looked way more luxurious and closer to what we were paying standards the what they were when we showed up. It looked like a budget discount hotel pool and the online photos from the website look waylay nicer.

My fiancé and I came for a quick weekend the week leading into our wedding so we could go into the week relaxed. Timothy helped check us in and was very nice! He was helpful, efficient and sweet enough to give us an extra little perk to add ti the celebration. The Meritage is always one of our favorite places!

Our anniversary and our first time here we loved everything about it. What a great glaze we will definitely be back. Timothy helped us a lot. He was very helpful. Very nice during check-in. Please give him a raise.

Hi, I want to be very clear that this experience was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived. The lobby had a strong, unpleasant odor—honestly reminiscent of sewage—which is not an acceptable first impression. After checking in, we were given keys to a room located quite far away, with little to no clear direction on how to get there. The signage throughout the property is confusing and inadequate. We followed the posted signs only to end up at a dead-end lounge with a closed door, forcing us to backtrack and find another route on our own. Once we finally located the correct building, there was still no clear indication of where the elevators were. We had to wander around again just to find access to the third floor. To make matters worse, when we eventually reached the room, one of the keys did not work. Overall, this was a frustrating and poorly managed experience, especially considering the basic expectations of cleanliness, clear navigation, and functional room access.

Horrible Check-in Experience, 30 minutes waiting in line, people cutting in line, employees extremely slow, and no sense of urgency. While this is a resort and I expected it to be busy, the lack of urgency from the staff (except the bellboys) was appalling. We had to run immediately to dinner so we got to our room when we returned. Just to find they gave us the wrong room, not the suite we ordered. Walked across the resort because no one answers the phone and the AI that they use to “assist” you is a joke. I booked via hotels (dot) com. The same lady who checked me in blamed it on Hotels and the “systems”. This is absolute bs because I am sure they gave our suite away. We negotiated a rate to stay in our current room as we were not moving all our stuff. We will see what happens upon checkout (hopes are not high). Our room has multiple light switches that don’t work, the sliding door to the toilet is jammed in the wall, the shower faucet handle feels like it will fall off. The room view of the vineyard is beautiful though.
