The Meritage Resort and Spa

1 Star Review I am so incredibly disappointed with my experience trying to book at Meritage. What should have been a simple reservation process turned into an absolute nightmare of wasted time and frustration. After multiple attempts to book online that kept failing or glitching, I spent hours on the phone over several days trying to reach someone who could actually help. I was transferred repeatedly, put on hold for long stretches, and spoke to several different people who all gave conflicting information or said they’d call me back and never did. No one could resolve the booking issues, and I still don’t have a confirmed reservation despite all the effort. The lack of basic customer service and support is shocking for a place that markets itself as upscale. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere. Extremely disappointed and will not be recommending Meritage to anyone.

Although Adelina was kind, she didn’t ask ask for permission before entering our room. I was undressed and had to cover up as she entered the room.

We had a great time!! The husband and I have been wanting to visit Napa for years! Timothy at front was the best, he told us about so many fun local spots!

Meh is the best way to describe the Meritage. It's a tired resort that is woefully understaffed by seemingly untrained staff. When we were there, a large group was also staying at the resort and they were given priority treatment - even to the extent that we were actually told they needed to be attended to first. Our simple requests such as asking for white wine vs. red in our rooms were met with the incredulous retort that white wine would next be available in October (?) One restaurant (Ember Steak) was very good, the other (Olive & Hay) was terrible. The latter clearly didn't care about the patron experience. Marking this one a miss. There are nicer places to spend your money in the Napa/Sonoma areas.

The room initially appeared tidy, but after returning from dinner and finally taking off our shoes, we realized the carpet was damp throughout, as if it had been shampooed earlier in the day and never properly dried. To make matters worse, when I got into bed, I noticed the sheets near the bottom were also oddly wet. Hoping for a quick resolution, I contacted the front desk, but the response was unhelpful—they offered no real solution, couldn’t provide dry replacement sheets, and seemed indifferent to the inconvenience. We ultimately had to switch rooms. We had been looking forward to dinner at their steak restaurant, Ember; however, within hours of the meal, two out of the three people in our group became seriously ill with what seemed like food poisoning. Given the resort’s reputation, it was especially disappointing and difficult to reconcile the polished image with such a troubling experience. Another issue arose when we returned to our room one afternoon and discovered our keys no longer worked. After several failed attempts, we learned that the maintenance team had changed the locks mid-stay without any prior notice to guests. Rather than a quick fix, we were directed to the front desk to obtain new keys, where a long line of equally confused guests had already formed. The spa treatments themselves were lovely, but the experience took a frustrating turn when I accidentally left my necklace in a locker while being one of the last guests there that day. I returned less than an hour later—after security let me back in - only to find the locker had already been cleared and reset. When I contacted staff, neither the spa team nor management seemed particularly concerned or willing to help track it down. The situation felt brushed off rather than taken seriously, leaving me with the impression that it may have been taken during cleaning without any effort to return it. Instead of the professionalism I expected, the response suggested that guest belongings were not a priority, which was deeply disappointing. After everything that happened; the damp room, the lack of support from staff, the illness following dinner, the confusion caused by the lock change, and especially the disappearance of my personal belongings - I’ve come away with a very negative impression of this hotel. A property that presents itself as a four-star destination should prioritize guest comfort, safety, and trust, and that simply was not my experience. Having my belongings go missing without any meaningful response was the final straw. It is not acceptable for guests to feel that their property isn’t respected or protected and for that reason, I will not be returning.

The spa is ok. But no steam room or sauna. Basically just expensive massages
