Thunderbird Motel

I normally would NOT try a place this dated. But, after I read some of the reviews I gave it a reluctant try.... Very good decision!!! The owners are super nice people. At check-in he asked me if I like beef jerky, and then he gave me a bag that he had made, how nice right? The room was really clean, the owners actually clean the rooms themselves, which I'm sure is the reason that they are so clean. This place took me back to childhood traveling across Route 66, and the old mom and pop motels that we would stay in along the way heading out west to see family, but unlike most of those old motels, this one is preserved almost perfectly, and you don't have to worry about bugs and filth because of it's age and neglect. I normally stay in Holiday Inn Express or LaQuinta on business trips, but I will definitely stay here again if my travels bring me through Dodge City. It is probably the cheapest room in Dodge City, and may very well be the best experience.

This place didn't have the cleanest rooms. I had the worst service from the owners. The price was not that bad. I wished they would have more variety in the in different types of rooms. I didn't have the best impression, when i went there.

We stayed here one night. We love old places with character. The sign is terrific and was a big selling point for us. Beyond that, there isn't much charm. The room was clean enough, but smelled like it had been heavily sprayed with air freshener to cover up cigarette smoke, even though it was a non-smoking room. They provide soap and plenty of towels. Lots of hot water for showering and there's a mini-fridge and microwave, which is convenient. The bed and pillows were not super comfortable but not terrible, either. Wi-fi worked fine on my phone, not so well with my computer.Over all, we felt like we got what we paid for--a fair price for a clean, no-frills room.
