"Almost perfect"

The hotel really is grand. The public spaces are impressive, and the suite we took was spacious and well appointed. The staff were professional, friendly and helpful. The one problem was that there were not enough of them. They offer valet parking, but there was no bellman there midafternoon when we arrived, and the front desk staff was swamped, so we didn't get the promised call when our room was ready--I just went up and asked). The hotel restaurant is a Pizzeria Uno (!) that was understaffed, so ordering room service breakfast (regular breakfast at least, not pizza) was a bit of an adventure. We had to call the front desk since no one answered the room service number. The breakfast itself was good and arrived within the promised 25 minutes, but was served in cardboard takeout boxes with plastic utensils that made cutting your food a challenge, so that part was not a luxury hotel experience, if maybe the best they could do if they're short on staff. We stayed here in part because it was downtown and within walking distance of shops and restaurants, and because we wanted a really nice hotel, and we did get that. We may come back in the future.

"Wonderful experience, great accomodations, amazingly comfortable beds"

Beautiful grand hotel experience with amenities to match, way more than expected for the small price we paid. Parking is extra at $15 per day. The pool is beautiful and inviting with a spa and restaurant on lower level. The ground floor lounge was comfortable and enjoyable with crowd pleasing live music in the evening.The location is about a 20 min drive to the North entrance to Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park. The hotel is in a lovely city and is right next to the Pedestrian Mall. This walkway is brimming with old country charm and a fantastic selection of shops and eateries, including an endearing cat cafe, but is only open from 10 am until 8 pm, so plan accordingly. We were especially intrigued by the comfort of the beds and enjoyed the best sleep ever at the George Washington Grand Hotel in Winchester.

"Great location in downtown Winchester with awesome pool"

The pool was so unique! Like a Roman bathhouse. Location was amazing, walkable to much in Winchester. Shower was nice, staff was friendly and love the historic feel.

Bed frame on our king bed was a bit large, kept hitting our shins which was annoying!
