Wish more outside lights were working.

The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly

The room was not cleaned well. We found old chip bags underneath the bed. Fortunately our kids didn’t eat the hard chips. Gross! Also, the coffee market had the previous persons grounds still in there. The beds were comfy but There were small holes in our sheets. We will not be returning to this hotel.

We had a 1-night stay in Glen Rose, and redeemed points for a free room. As we pulled into the parking lot, we noticed there was only 1 vehicle in the Porta cachet, and the entire parking lot was empty. As we entered the hotel, it was obvious the air conditioning was not working. It was hot and smelled of body odor. There was also a lawn mower parked in the lobby. No one was present, only a sign with a phone number to call. We called the number, no answer. Waited a few minutes and called again; still no answer. After waiting almost 10 minutes, a man appeared from a room across the hall. He seemed agitated, and didn’t even greet us. He initiated the check-in process, and we asked if we could have a room near the elevator. This is where it got really bad: he proceeded to state that we were staying for free, and we don’t get to pick our room, he will pick our room. And, if we want to pay him $85.00, then we can pick a room. I mentioned that the reason we can stay for free is due to the number of times this brand has been used instead of the many others options available to us. He didn’t appreciate that. Looking back I’m shocked we even stayed, but we did. He gave us a key and said we had 10 minutes to check the room, if we didn’t like it, we could return, he would check us out, and we could leave. As we walked off, he shouted “10 minutes!”!When we opened the door to the room, we were met with an overwhelming smell of air freshener, body odor, and cigarette smoke. The smell was nauseating. But, we were exhausted from our travel and didn’t want to scramble to find another room. We noticed a Glade Plug-in on the wall, removed it, stuck it in a plastic bag and into a drawer. Then, we cranked up the a/c trying to filter the air, and left to find dinner. When we returned, there was a truck in the parking lot with two guys cooking hot dogs on Coleman stove! Later we saw them in the lobby, so they were guests. And, obviously placed in a room directly above us, because we heard their loud footsteps late into the night and early in the morning. When we got up we checked the “free breakfast” (with more handwritten signs for the adjusted hours) and determined it was inedible. There was some sort of shaved meat product instead of, say, bacon or sausage, and nothing looked fresh. The one vehicle remained in the Porta cachet our entire stay; must belong to the franchisee. This franchise is not a good representative of the Choice brand. And, a serious investigation needs to be done by corporate into the way this location operates.

Make sure you have time to leave a few hours so your room can cool down. I’m glad we had time but still was not cold when we got back.

It was pretty good. The waffle, cereal, juice and bread were good, but think the eggs could have been cooked more.
