Great proximity to restaurants and shopping

The air conditioning unit rattled all night and constantly woke me up and didn’t have a cover on the blades. Reception were notified there was an issue with a noise but no offer of a new room.

For the price this looks like a reasonable stay. The room is mostly quite modern and has all the facilities you need. I have certainly stayed in cheaper and way nastier hotels in Cairns. The staff here were pleasant to deal with, if not a little absent from the reception counter. I never encountered cleaning staff around the building. There is a pool, however it was closed at the time of my stay. The rooftop area however has a great view, but is a largely wasted space. Still it is a nice location to hang out to catch the breeze on a warm night. The reception area feels like an after-thought, almost as though they were annoyed they had to have an area to receive guests at all. But once up in the rooms they are airy and reasonably furnished. That said, what I thought was a freshly made bed had a couple of black spots on the covers, that when put under a blacklight showed up as a much larger stain. Not the most confident I have felt about the hygiene state in a hotel. The bathroom and the facilities themselves are feeling a bit tired and dated. Again, there's far worse examples around Cairns. The location itself is fairly close to the port area, but feels like it is on the edge and away from everything - however most of what you want in Cairns is an easy walk from here. Something about this hotel feels like the owners are just going through the motions, with a lingering sense of apathy while waiting for someone else to make an offer to buy it and freshen it up. It is one of the few hotels I have stayed in of this size that didn't have a decent kitchen or breakfast area, although there were hints in the foyer of one existing once. There are vending machines though, as the person on the reception desk pointed out to me.. All in all this was a very average experience let down by some poor linen cleaning for the most crucial of functions I need in a hotel room.

Cracked basin in bathroom, fridge/freezer not working properly and needing to be defrosted and not very clean.

MY ROOM DID SMELL OF BLEACH IT WAS REALLY BAD I LEFT THE DOORS OPEN THEN LEFT FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS ON RETURN IT WAS STILL OVERWHELMING. I RANG HOUSEKEEPING THEY SAID THE CLEANER MUST IF USED TO MUCH IN THE DRAIN AS THEY WERE HAVING TROUBLES WITH THE DRAINAGE. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE AVAILABLE BUT THEN I WAS OFFERED A ROOM THAT MUSTBIF JUST HAD SOMEONE LEAVE AS THAT ROOM AND QUICKY HAD THE ROOM CLEAN 🙄🙄 NOT HAPPY I KNOW I MUST SOUND LIKE A KAREN BUT APPARENTLY I PAID FOR A EXCUTIVE SUITE BUT A DOWNSIZED TO A JOKER SU.ITE
