Disappointing Stay – Lack of Communication and Safety Concerns Hotel Condition and Maintenance Issues: The hotel feels run-down and in need of serious maintenance. The doors in the room were squeaky, hard to open, and close, and the layout was confusing with unclear numbering, making it difficult to navigate. Additionally, the lights in the room did not work properly, which added to the inconvenience during my stay. The overall condition of the hotel left me questioning the quality of the facilities. The Monkey Incident and Lack of Communication: The most troubling part of my stay was the monkey incident. When I returned to my room after being out, I found the door wide open. Upon entering, I discovered that a monkey had gotten inside. There was a brief warning in the room about monkeys, but it was not sufficient. The hotel left all the responsibility of understanding the risk to poor signage, without ever mentioning any specific precautions regarding monkeys during check-in or throughout the stay. The caretaker who came to check on the situation mentioned that monkeys could open the sliding doors by themselves, even when locked. This makes me question why guests weren’t more thoroughly informed about this potential danger upfront. What was even more frustrating was the delay in handling the incident. It took almost an hour for anyone to speak with us about what to do next, leaving us in limbo with no clear guidance or sense of urgency. When I accidentally met and spoke with the manager upon checking out, I was initially told the incident would be investigated. Later, I was offered a 50% discount on my one-night stay as compensation. While I appreciate the gesture, it did not even begin to cover the damage caused by the monkey or the distress we experienced. The monkey not only ruined cosmetics and personal items but also caused damage to my laptop, which made the situation even worse. The lack of a timely response, proper communication, and failure to take adequate responsibility for this serious issue was incredibly frustrating. Reception and Communication Failures: Throughout my stay, I had serious trouble contacting reception. Reception calls were never answered, not even when the monkey incident occurred. I had to physically go all the way to the reception myself every time I needed assistance, which added to my frustration. This lack of communication and accessibility made a stressful situation even worse. It felt like the hotel didn’t make any effort to provide timely support or address issues properly. Service and Responsiveness of the Staff: While some staff members were friendly, I found the overall service to be lacking. The response time was slow, and the information was confusing. For example, I was given the wrong directions to a restaurant that’s already closed and moved to another spot.. The hotel’s lack of effort to properly accommodate and address issues was apparent. Renovations and Concerns About Current Operations: The hotel is planning renovations soon, but I question whether they should even be open at this level of operation. With so many maintenance issues and safety concerns, it seems like the hotel is not fully prepared to accommodate guests in a way that ensures their comfort or safety. If the hotel is aware of these ongoing issues, it may be better to close for renovations until it can meet acceptable standards. Conclusion: In conclusion, my stay at this place was disappointing due to poor communication, safety issues, and lack of responsiveness. If the hotel is aware of the monkey problem, it should be communicated properly to guests from the beginning—not left to confusing signs in the room. The response to the incident was slow and unsatisfactory, and the lack of proper customer service was evident throughout. I will not be returning to this hotel and do not recommend it to others.

Location is the one redeeming factor. The rooms lack maintenance. The photos of “ocean facing” rooms are a little deceiving. We paid extra to get a room in this category and our view was that of the building in front of us. Very few of the staff speak fluent english and the communication was a little lackluster

"Vacation paradise in Krabi"

Once we had booked we started reading very negative reviews and were really worried. However the experience was GREAT, starting with a stunning location in the midst of the jungle and between the mountains and the see. It is true that it can be only accessed via the shuttle boat (which isn't very convenient) or the Monkey trail which involves steep stairs and having to deal with hungry monkeys but this added to the uniqueness of the Hotel! The trail was one of the highlights of the trip and doable for us (2 adults and one 13 yo kid) even with heavy backpacks. The pool area is great and only some meters away from a paradise-like beach which is almost empty and used mainly by Hotel guests. The Hotel location is also good to take one day trips to the surrounding islands and beaches and therefore a great choice. We also enjoyed the excellent breakfast and service mindset from the hotel staff. It is true the rooms are a little bit runned down and some elements didnt work properly but either you take this hotel at c. 200 USD/night or go a bit cheaper to the not so charming Hotels in AO Nang (that look like mass-tourism blocks) or upgrade yourself to the 1000 USD/night resort in Railey but in our view not worth it as - taken the drawback of a somewhat secluded location - the Centara Grand is a great choice.

What an incredible hotel! You feel like you are in the middle of the jungle with all the luxury of a high end hotel. We stayed in a room with a hot tub on the balcony and loved taking in the views from the privacy of our own balcony. The service was also incredible! We would definitely stay here again next time we are in Krabi

The property is in a beautiful location but it is certainly dated in terms of the rooms and amenities and does not live up to its 5 star rating either in amenities or sadly the service despite the best attempts of some of the staff . My Visit was not helped by bout of food poisoning at one of the restaurants - an experience I understand was shared by another guest around the same time . Could deal with the rustic charm if the basics had been done right but unfortunately they were not .

"Great stay at the Centara Grand"

Don’t read the reviews this is a great Hotel in an unbelievable setting. The staff on check in were attentive and our bags were waiting for us at our rooms. We upgraded to the sea view room and went half board (well worth it). The rooms are clean and spacious. The beach is something else (that’s why you go there right?). Loved The boat ride to the hotel also. There are a range of restaurants we went to the Thai both nights as it was that good. Overall a great stay would highly recommend.

The people leaving bad reviews are frankly too picky. I read them before I left and was genuinely worried, but I gotta say they were very misleading. I would say you get exactly what you pay for at this resort; absolute world class scenery that somehow looks better in person than in photos, comfortable and clean rooms with great views, GREAT air conditioning, EXCELLENT staff who are extremely friendly, great amenities, and access to a practically private beach. We came for our honeymoon and found the rooms and general vibe of the resort to be quite charming and fitting for the location, not outdated or run-down. Arriving to the hotel by boat made it feel like we were in White Lotus (in a special fun way) and despite the fact that Trip.com messed up our booking (we booked a king bed but were given a room with 2 double beds) the staff went above and beyond trying to accommodate our request and showed us several different rooms until we found one that we were satisfied with. The pool was also so nice and picturesque with the ocean in the background. Staying at this resort truly felt like a holiday. I will agree however that the food was not very good, but it's not like the options in town are all that great either, and most importantly we did not have any stomach issues (we ate vegetarian and they had lots of options). The buffet breakfast is perfectly good. The monkey trail is definitely a hike, but it's well lit on wooden steps for the most part. Not for anyone with accessibility concerns but very doable and over with relatively quickly. Absolutely worth it for the seclusion, the beach is less busy and cleaner than pretty much every other beach around, and there's no one around trying to sell you anything.

"Not Worth the Hype – Disappointed and Left After One Night"

We booked Centara Grand Beach Resort Krabi expecting a relaxing, high-end getaway — unfortunately, it fell far short of the 5-star standard it claims to offer. Yes, the location is beautiful and secluded, but that’s also part of the problem. Once you’re there, you’re isolated, with very few options beyond the resort itself — and that wouldn’t be a big issue if the resort lived up to expectations. The hotel is extremely outdated. The buildings and facilities feel worn, tired, and in need of a serious renovation. Our room was okay, but nothing special — far from luxurious, and definitely not what you’d expect from a premium resort. The biggest letdown, however, was the food. It was genuinely poor — bland, overpriced, and with very limited variety. Since there’s nowhere else to eat nearby (unless you hike or take a boat), it made the whole experience worse. We were so disappointed that we checked out after just one night. It simply didn’t match what we were looking for — or what was promised. This is not a true 5-star experience, and sadly, we wouldn’t recommend it to others.
