The Balinese

I can give just average of the review. The people work there some of are not that friendly. More be Coz they are not local?

Good value for money good location. The pool looked nice although we didn't get the time to enjoy it!

Helpful staff and comfortable bed. Close to everything

The Balinese is situated away from the CBD but within walking distance of everything. Great staff, rooms cleaned daily and simple breakfast included.

I appreciated the welcoming atmosphere created by the staff which made my stay in Cairns so good. Ramon and other staff members were friendly and helpful and took the trouble to assist me. Other guests enjoyed the facilities in the dining room which included access to wifi and a substantial breakfast. I was impressed by the helpfulness of Ramon when he waited with guests for their transfer to the airport and when it looked as though they would miss their flight, he offered to ring a taxi.

The pool is only a plunge pool but staff well organised, lovely clean room good a.c and tv, there is also a night security gate so hire car is safe here, 15 min walk along the promenade is a great way to start the day at say 6.30am before it warms up similar in evening from about 4.30 pm We have rebooked in a few days time when we return to cairns

Towels didn't changed once and amenity wasn't good.

We booked The Balinese as it appeared to be not too far away from the Town Centre, the photo's looked to be a nice upgrade from much of the hostel accomodation in Cairns and breakfast was included. Well the hotel is a 10 minute walk to anything of interest, which isn;t too bad. But the hotel is very tired looking when you get inside which the photo's fail to show up and the owner's need to decide whether they are going to run this as a hotel or a private room hostel as it is currently more like the latter. As for the breakfast, this is not staffed and consists of a 'Cole's Basic' loaf of bread, some cereal, a bottle of milk and juice in the fridge and a toaster, you also have to wash up after yourself, not a problem but I feel needs a bit more clarification when booking as when you see a hotel has 'breakfast included' this isn't what you think of. Other observations made; the pool is more like a pond, no chance of swimming. The staff are unhelpful, when asked if they could call a taxi we were told "that isn't for me to do". All in all a disappointing stay, I would not recommend.

You get what you pay for. For a motel, this place is very nice, breakfast included, nice pool and good room conditions.

i don't have much to compare to as it was first time i stayed in Cairns. The room was ok for my needs; nothing special but nothing too bad to deal with. the exhaust fan in bathroom was pretty loud, and the mattress is probably due for replacement in the next year or so... aircon and ceiling fan were good, the laundry location in same space as breakfast was no problem until someone turned on the dryer while i was eating. i had no problem with the all you can eat breakfast arrangements. there is nothing flash about the motel, but it satisfied my requirements..and its in a good location, convenient for us...we're in our 50s and like to walk if its feasible. mostly we found places to eat etc from 100 metres to a couple k of our room.
