Nottingham Belfry Hotel & Spa

Lovely atmosphere and great staff.

The staff were friendly The restaurant staff were very helpful The leisure manager was helpful and understanding The food in the restaurant was nice The complimentary drinks in the room were a kind touch. Large bathroom with separate shower and bath.

There were 4 of us (2 adults 2 children) but the room was only set up for 3 ( 3 X towels and a double bed with a single bed). It wasn't overly clean - layer of dust on anything above. Eyeline/ rubbish and dirt under the bed/floors covered in debris throughout. Glasses out in the courtyard that were left there for the whole 3 days we were there. The heater in the pool was broken which meant the pool was freezing - whilst I appreciate this was just "one of those things' it broke 9 days before our stay - we only ever stay places we can swim at least once a day if not twice, it would have been nice to have let us know before arrival and given us the opportunity to find somewhere else to stay. When we did speak to the manager on duty they were not overly helpful (completely appreciate we must have been the umpteenth person to complain that day but still not great). There was no gritting or salting despite the ice - we were told to smoke/vape in the courtyard yard only but it was like an ice rink. Breakfast was okay - there is a lot of choice which is nice but freshness varies. Fried eggs on the hotplates are like rubber - I would recommend asking for poached eggs. Overall it was a very expensive stay - there is nothing else really within walking distance other than Aldi - so eating and drinking in the hotel was convenient and easy at times but it was very expensive. I appreciate this is the lull after Xmas and New year which is likely to have been very busy, but there appeared to be little effort from the hotel as a whole which was disappointing.

Premier Inn which is a low budget hotel's breakfast was better and more delicious in terms of taste
