Bahia Principe Explore Coba - All Inclusive

My husband and I stayed here from the 13th to the 24th of November 2025. Before leaving we were worried about the negative reviews and the fact that there were renovations going on for the new Tequilla resort opening on Dec 1st. Check in was seamless, no issues when we arrived at 1pm. Our room was not ready but we were able to go to the buffet to get something to eat while it was being prepared for us. We were able to get into our room at 3pm and the room was spotless. Yes, it is an older building and did smell a little musty but we only went to the room to get ready for dinner and to sleep. The matress was a little hard but when I mentioned it to the girl that cleaned our room, she was able to add a matress topper which helped a lot. Buffet always had something to eat and breakfast was really good. Eggs made the way you like, lots of fresh fruit and bacon everyday. For lunch we ate at the snack bar near the pool where the servers there were wonderful. They remembered what we liked to drink and made sure we were taken care of everyday. A la carte dinners were good, we ate at the Brazilian, Japanese a la carte and tempinaki, also ate at the Italian. Service was great in all of them and food was really good as well! Pools were warm and kept pretty clean, only issue we saw when there were that the steps to go in were a little slippery so you had to be careful when entering and exiting the pool. Foam party was fun and entertainment at the pool was good. Staff were really friendly and would go around trying to engage people to participate in the activities. Lots of chairs at the pool every day, did not have any issues getting seats. Beach was small and chairs were very crowded and pushed together but we only went there twice. You have to take a tram to get there as its a pretty far walk. Night life was really good. Dancing every night which was so much fun outside of the lobby and staff that worked in the lobby and outside of the lobby were so attentive and brought drinks to us. Maria in the lobby bar served us every night and she was so friendly and efficient. Staff outside of the lobby bar, Daniel, Miguel and Yalily were also fantastic and made sure we were taken care of every night. All in all, we had a great time and have nothing to complain about. Do not listen to the negative reviews! We had a wonderful time and we will be back!! Gracias to all the staff and hope to be back soon!!

Had the most amazing full body couples massage. Zen from the moment we arrived. Relaxing environment, welcoming staff and Landy and Yacsuri did an amazing job. The only down side I wanted it to last all day! Highly recommend if your staying in this complex

old AC in the room. AC control did not work. You have too book restaurant 3-4 days before going there, so you need to start doing it even before you arrive to the location. Japanese restaurant experience was not good.

Food was good everywhere we went on the resort

I had a family of 4 in my room and was supposed to have two queen beds, which would have allowed my girls to sleep in one bed and my husband and I in the other, but instead we had two twin sized beds and a sofa/bed. these beds are not big enough for two people to sleep in, so I had to squeeze in with on of my kids. This is my only issue I had.

My husband and I spent a wonderful week at Coba in November 2025. This was our second time at the Bahia Principe in the Riviera Maya—our first was about a year and a half ago at Akumal, which we really enjoyed. This time, we chose to stay at Coba. If you stay at Coba, you only have access to Coba’s buffet and the Coba loungers at the beach. You can purchase an upgrade for about $20 USD per person per day, which gives access to Akumal and the other buffets, bars, pools, and beach loungers. Whatever day you upgrade, you have to upgrade for the remainder of your stay. We thought we might upgrade, but ended up loving Coba so much that we didn’t feel the need. The family-friendly atmosphere made me feel very safe and relaxed. We were also surprised by how many fellow guests we met who were from Canada! The room was good. I found the bed, while still on the firm side, was softer than the bed we had at Akumal. We had booked a queen bed but ended up with 2 doubles. This didn't bother either of us. We also found our key card took quite a few tries to open the door. My favorite part of Coba was the plaza where the nightly musical entertainment took place—it had a bit of a European vibe that I really enjoyed. I also preferred Coba’s buffet over Akumal’s, as the food at Coba was served hotter. We saw 2 of the Theater shows: The City of Rock and Urban - both were fantastic. I was super impressed and recommend these. Coba is not directly on the beach; it’s about a 12-minute stroll or a 5-minute trolley ride. We enjoyed the leisurely walks to help burn off some of the extra calories lol. The beach bar could use more staff, and beach servers, as the line for drinks was often very long. The Coba section of the beach doesn’t have as many loungers as Akumal, but we never had trouble finding two. We also enjoyed many of the other activities - bingo, yoga, water volleyball, water polo, bike riding tour. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and will definitely be back—most likely at Coba again.

Nice buffet, adults only sections and beach. Friendly staff too. The themed restaurants I attended were nice and accommodating of my gluten allergy. Can get a day pass for the other resorts so can go to the luxury buffet which is nice.

Hard to get reservations, shouldn't be able to book all tables at themed restaurants in advance, should have some tables saved for on the day. Check in also took a very long time (45 minutes) with only one staff member on at 5pm.

This was our 7th trip to Coba and we still love it here. Rooms are dated, but clean and comfortable bed, and really how much time do you spend in your room. Rooms are air conditioned and it worked great. Had lots of fun with Antonio, Alex, Elder, Hazeil, Alejandro, Hanna and Roberto the Entertainment Team. Had good service at the Piscis snack bar, as well as at the Buffet. Ofelia, Geraldine, maybe the wrong name, and Maria kept our glasses full at the Lobby Bar.
