"Unbearable mould smell – unsafe conditions for families"

1.0

The resort has a large outdoor area and access to the facilities of the neighboring hotels. The staff were polite, although they were unable to offer any real solution to our situation.

We had to leave the hotel early due to a very strong smell of mould and chemicals in every room we were shown. The air quality was so poor that staying in any of the rooms was impossible, especially with our almost two-year-old child who suffers from early-childhood asthma. Despite multiple requests for help, no real or safe solution was offered to us. The rooms we received did not match the five-star standard advertised in the listing. The whole situation was extremely stressful and forced us to leave the property earlier than planned.

"Nice inexpensive way to visit Mexico - great entertainment"

8.0

Check-in: The two women we interacted with during our stay seemed unhappy, cold, and had a “don’t bother me” attitude. They should not have to work with guests. Buffet: Large and with potential, but it was reduced to about ¾ of its usual size by management. • Breakfast: Two omelette stations with cooks, but staples like bacon and potatoes were hard to keep stocked. The food was emptied faster than it could be refilled. • Lunch/Dinner: Plenty of variety, but only one live cooking station—the Mexican corner. No pasta, fish, chicken, or grill made to order by a chef, which was disappointing. Snack Bar (Piscis): Serves lunch until 6 pm and reopens at 10 pm. Limited selection, no made-to-order options. Everything is pre-cooked and lukewarm. Offers burgers, hot dogs, fries, and salads. Nice outdoor setting for a change from the buffet. A-la-carte restaurants : you need to book 10 days before your check-in on the app. Coba gets 3 dinners per week. We had the Mikado Teppanyaky (8/10), the Gourmet Coba ( 9/10) and the Brazilian Gran Tortuga (Tulum) was our favorite (10/10). Trolleys: Available at the lobby and a couple of stops at Coba. They pass every 10–15 minutes and go to La Hacienda, other resorts, and the beach (5 minutes away). Pleasant ride. Beach : very small , crowded. Unless you go ‘’up’’ on the second level of beach, like a terrace, but there are renovations there and you will hear saws and jackhammer. There were always empty loungers though. Renovations (Half of Coba is getting renovated to be the ‘new’ Bahia Tequila). The renovations are noisy at times, but it depends on your building location. It was not a problem for us overall. Rooms: Very clean and spacious but outdated and poorly soundproofed. Entertainment: The best I’ve seen in years. Eder and his team kept the pool area lively with challenges, classes, and music. I was especially impressed by the number of choices at night.—Terraza, sports bar, theatre shows, and the lobby bar. Impossible to get bored before 11pm! Staff: Aside from the check-in desk, everyone was friendly, polite, helpful, and always smiling—from trolley drivers to housekeepers, maintenance, and servers. Management: I did not see any onsite, but I can clearly say they overwork their staff. Only one bartender at the pool bar and one at swim-up bar, serving long lines non-stop for the whole Coba... The waiting lines were long and they should have always been 2 or 3 bartenders. We felt like management was cutting costs by reducing bar staff, buffet variety & cooks. Again, staff worked VERY HARD and were efficient, but couldn’t keep up with the demand. THE STARS OF THE RESORT : two employees that go above and beyond to make our stay an incredible experience: *** Eder (entertainment) & Miguel (Buffet) *** In conclusion, we had a great time at Coba, thanks to incredible staff and entertainers. We would like to come back, but after the full renovations.

"Unsatisfied"

6.0

The rooms are worn, no direct beach access, no restaurants were available on our stay, booked for a week straight. We ate warm buffet food for a week. I also recommend hiring your own transportation to and from the airport. It was over a 2-hour bus ride back to the airport, picking up at 6 different hotels. The entertainment at the resort was amazing, a lot of fun. The price point for the trip was great, now I know why. It was bare minimum service.

"Guides in paradise"

I would suggest doing some of these excursions just for the expertise and guidance of the tour guides. It’s a much better experience than just trying to do things alone.

"Disappointed"

6.0

I m 5th time visitor and i m absolutely disappointed this time. The staff is rude. Amstar scam the guest. No one can help if you have issues.Their tours are overpriced and also you should be very careful for what you pay and where you want to go. Because i paid for Tulum and went to see turtles for 160$. This tour is 70 via Viator My bahia Príncipe membership is absolutely useless! The hotel doesn’t fit for 5 ⭐️

"No longer a good quality resort, book elsewhere if you can"

2.0

We were really excited to stay here as we visited once before when our kids were little. It turned out to be a mistake. The check-in line was extremely long with only 1-2 staff members working , taking 15-20 minutes per family to be checked in. The resort is large and carts are available to take you around but the drivers were hit or miss if they would actually take you to where you wanted to go. Needless to say, we got our steps in. It is extremely difficult to book the ala carte restaurants, they are always fully booked, however, if you do get a reservation you will find the restaurant half empty and poorly managed. The Hindu Thali restaurant in particular were quick racist, asking colored people to step aside so that white people could be seated first. The buffet restaurant was easy to get a table but the food quality was terrible, items at the buffet were either not labeled or incorrectly labeled. If you asked the chefs they couldn’t agree on what the dishes are: one would say a dish was pork while the same dish another chef would tell you is beef. The dishes did not change from lunch to dinner, nor do they change from day to day. All we ate was fruit and salad. The desserts were dry and tasteless, not really edible. The rooms are old and in need of repair, they don’t clean the rooms during your stay unless you request it through the app. We definitely won’t be back. While the price point was good, what you get in return is not. Even trying to give the hotel this feedback, they were not really interested and didn’t take our concerns seriously. Poor customer service.
