Highland Lake Inn & Resort - Flat Rock

Having been here for 6 years I can say that it is a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Feels like you are in the country, but is still convenient to the lovely towns of Hendersonville and Flat Rock. Everything is well maintained and the staff are very accommodating. The breakfast buffet at Seasons Restaurant is unbeatable and lunch and dinners are also great. My little poodle also thoroughly enjoyed her time in the country. I can highly recommend Highland Lake for a peaceful and beautiful get away. PS The beds are very comfortable.

Wonderful!! We booked last minute just needing a hotel for a night in the Hendersonville area . This exceeded our expectations . Beautiful location and grounds , wonderful on site restaurant and historic comfortable accommodation . This is a hidden gem and will be one of our favorite places to stay .

What can I say about Highland Lake Inn & Resort? This place was a dream! We had 45 participants stay over night and hosted a conference at this location and it was amazing. Shea and Cami were so careful with all of our guests' preferences and details. The food and atmosphere was amazing. Our biggest complaint was that we didn't get enough time in our programming to explore the grounds more. The lodging accommodations were clean and much more comfortable than I was expecting. We stayed up to fellowship in the Lodge game room and lobby area which was perfect for our large group. Out of 45 guests, we had zero complaints for our conference and it was recommended we strive to find locations as beautiful and accommodating. We will be back for sure as a group, and many of us as individuals.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night visit! We loved the property in general, a century's worth of trees and shrubbery, various buildings, paths and gardens to wander among, a dam, and a grist mill from the 1700's. The grounds have so much history--as summer camps, as an Academy, for example. We stayed in a clean, cozy, rustic room on the second floor of the Lodge, with direct access to a wrap-around veranda to enjoy the evening air. Sunday breakfast at Season's was actually Sunday brunch -- many options and so tasty. We also had a larger family dinner at Season's; scrumptuous and beautifully presented althought we wished there had been more vegetarian entrees. Our granddaughter was so excited to find a pool table in the Lodge basement that staff brought us a cot so she could have a "sleepover" for the second night! What a memorable weekend

We stayed at HLI to attend a wedding in the area. Our stay started with delicious cookies upon check-in with the super friendly staff. I'm not sure if that was just for the wedding guests, or if it always there, but those were delicious! We brought our toddler with us and the provided pack and play in our room was just what we needed for sleeping/naps. We stayed in the Woodward House and the communal kitchen was so helpful to wash bottles and sippy cups each evening. It is such a beautiful property and escape from city life. The breakfasts at Season's were the best I've ever had when staying at a hotel/inn. The WIFI in our hotel room and at Season's worked well. We did not get a chance to explore the large picturesque property or the many amenities that they had on site - pool, lake, canoes/kayaks, trails, etc etc etc. But it would be so nice to have all that to enjoy so easily. Also, the housekeeping staff found something we had accidentally left and promptly contacted us so we could pick it up before we got too far from the hotel. Thanks!

I gave this 5 star, but actually it was more of a 4-5 star. This is an old property, but maintained pretty well. We stayed in the Lodge for 2 nights. Our room was a good size… bathroom didn’t have a walk-in shower, but comfortable with a large vanity. We were there to celebrate our anniversary. We didn’t do anything on the grounds so I can’t give info about the amenities like walking trails, pool, etc. The Inn is close to Hendersonville which we really like. The 5 star part is their restaurant. If you stay in the Lodge there is a very nice complimentary buffet breakfast. The restaurant is excellent for dinner as well, without driving. The only negative was that they do not give maid service on day 2 unless specifically requested. When we checked in they didn’t ask if we wanted 2nd day maid service…that should be done. We didn’t care if the room was totally cleaned, but we certainly wanted clean towels and glasses. As we were going out on day 2 we happened to see a maid. She didn’t speak English so she had to find someone who could understand us. She agreed to change our towels, but told us they usually do not service rooms on day 2. I know since Covid a lot of hotels try to get away with no service after check-in. We really resent this policy as we pay the same rate on day 2, 3, or 4. It’s getting better in the hotel industry, but still a sticking point with some.

We had a nice stay. Overall the Inn is lovely. Details: The room we stayed in (room 5/Mountain Air suite - in the Woodward House) was large and well laid out. Perfect choice for us. Comfortable beds and a huge bathroom (we did search for hooks to hang towels and couldn't find any)? There is a small balcony if you want to step outside (sadly it only looks the parking lot). The breakfast was very good - plenty of choices to start your day. The grounds are lovely and it looks like the lake could be fun to use another time. If you are thinking of playing tennis - not gonna happen. The court is in really bad shape so no need to bring rackets. A couple great meals were had - one was at the Campfire Grill just down the road in Flat Rock and one at Shine in Hendersonville (a cute little village with shops etc about 10 minutes away). Glad we visited.
