We stayed at this property because of the location and history. It is over 100 years old and while it’s been restored, certain aspects of age show; rooms are under lit, a bit dingy and musty. There is only one elevator, original to the hotel and operated only by an employee who you have to summon either in person or by a bell next to the elevator. The restaurant and bar are excellent, with beautiful views of the river and very good food. There is no valet service or luggage assistance.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Very clean, charming touches and very intimate and quiet. The property grounds are gorgeous with the views of the gorge. The staff is wonderful and helpful with immediate resolution to questions. I would highly recommend the stay.

"A regular part of our life."

We came here on our first anniversary 44 years ago. This is our 8th stay over the years. Each time we have enjoyed our stay. The grounds are exceptional to walk around, the stream and water fall are an added plus, the ombiance of the building and whe well maintained rooms make it an easy choice for us to have it on our list to visit. The restaraunt has never disappointed whether eating dinner or breakfast and the lounge has a nice aptmospher with the couches, chairs and fireplace.

I do not have any negatives to share about this hostel.

"Modern comforts in a heritage location"

Nice ambiance in a heritage hotel. With the window open we could hear the joyful sounds of the falls. Our room was attended to daily, which made it nice to return to from our day’s activity. Location is just a few minutes from Hood River scenes, victuals, and drink.
