Hotel Union Geiranger Bad & Spa

Staying at Hotel Union was a very pleasant experience. We upgraded our room and got a junior suite with an amazing view out over Geiranger and the fjord. The staff were polite and very welcoming which matched the general atmosphere of the hotel.

Good pool, old rooms

Amazing location and views - beware that there is a very steep walk up from the fjord to the hotel. The room had a great view of the fjord. We loved the pool and spa. One downside was the bathroom in our room wasn’t very clean.

Stayed 1 night on the way to Alesund. Charged $60 for my wife to stay in the room with me immediately upon arrival. Had to insist on a room with a view since there were NO Expedia Gold benefits. Shower drain was clogged and flooded bathroom. Had to call front desk and they said they could get to it in a few hours. Employee at hotel recommended we not eat dinner at the hotel. Instead we went to a restaurant nearby Bistro Possen which was very good. All night long the wind was blowing through the air vents and shower drains which made for a terrible night’s sleep. Checkout I was met with surly woman who didn’t know how to smile or be pleasant. The pool, sauna and jacuzzi are the only worthwhile amenities I can recommend about this hotel.

Nice place. Expensive but nice vintage place

From the moment you walk into this gem of a hotel you are transformed into another era. The lobby is surprisingly massive filled with antique furnishings and an antique car. The hotel has a antique car museum which was an experience in itself. The restaurant on site is great too. We had some delicious sandwiches the night of arrival. We did not use the spa or pool onsite but I am sure given the other facilities it would not disappoint. Breakfast next morning was great too. The staff was very helpful and willing to extend checkout time on request. Overall we would love to go back for a longer stay if we visit Geiranger.

It's ok House keeping is not good. Did not clean room for two days, had to complain twice and only then did they do it Needs some tweaking

Note, this hotel is in Gerainger and NOT Stranda as Expedia currently indicates. This is good news though, because Gerainger is where you want to be. This is a large established hotel with history. It even has a collection of vintage cars in the basement, all relating to the history of the hotel or Gerainger in general. This is an up-market hotel with plenty of staff who all seem to be pleasant and helpful. The waiters in the a la carte restaurant were extremely nice. The food there was great too, and cheaper than the buffet. The buffet dinner is expensive (even for Norway) but has an enormous selection from which to choose, both for dinner and breakfast.

All staff were very friendly and helpful. Centrally located in the fjord to wander, shop and do excursions. Lots of room for a third adult when travelling

Wonderful location, very helpful and informative concierge, staff went above and beyond making us comfortable. Breakfast Buffett was extensive in its offerings and excellent in quality. The on site restaurant also exceptional. A bit pricey, but the overall experience worth it.
