Courtyard by Marriott Kansas City Country Club Plaza

You have to pay $25 a day for an almost empty parking lot. Smallest pillows in the world. And if you go ask someone for more. They don’t have anymore. When I checked in I was greeted with, “ID”. No hello. Stay anywhere else. Not worth the cost.

We liked our room and would stay again. We didn’t like that to park in the parking garage it would have been $20 a day. We parked on the street and my husband would jog across back to the hotel. We loved the walkability to shops and restaurants. Our room was quiet.

Breakfast is not included! Things went south when we checked in. I asked about breakfast times and said "it's included in what I paid" and was told that "Expedia lied", it was not included and "I don't recommend using them at all." I double checked - it is clearly stated on the Expedia website and my reservation that breakfast for two is included. Later, as there was no water in the room, and none in the lobby, I asked for water and was told "let me check what level you are" and was then told I would have to buy a bottle of water. As if that wasn't enough, most good hotels, and definitely all Courtyards have tea bags in the room, there were none, so I went down to the lobby. At the bar they had a very small selection of cheap brand teas and of course, if I'd have wanted one (there was no chamomile tea which is what people drink at night) I'd have to pay. The room was fine. Although after a shower the bath tub took ages to drain the water out. The saving grace was a lovely lady serving at the bar, a comfortable bed and the Plaza is a great place to walk and dine. I got the impression of a "has been hotel" with beautiful bones that someone is nickel and diming. Not my typical Courtyard experience. Usually they are great.

Decent stay close to plaza. Older building so a little cramped room.

Staff were really nice. Property is older but well maintained overall. One elevator not working and no in-house restaurant. Pet friendly.

Our stay was great. Our rooms were by the elevator and we barely heard it. The rooms were very quiet. The location is fantastic. We had just a few small issues. We had two rooms and one of the doors was very hard to open. The shower head did not have much water pressure. But the worst was the bed. If you like a very hard bed you will love it.

Staff was very nice. Appreciated the historical aspects that were maintained at this hotel!

Desk clerk was very friendly, helpful & professional. The hotel was clean, beds were great & loved the extra large soft towels. Would definitely recommend.
