We had yet another great stay at Alfagar. Service at the food outlets were slower this time. Seems shirt staffed at the pool bars. They were disorganised at the bunganville. We addressed this with management and they appeared to have taken action.

"Stunning grounds at the cliffs edge,"

8.0

Stunning location on the cliffs overlooking the sea. We had a sea view apartment which I am so glad of, went to sleep with the sound of waves crashing on the beach below. You can walk down the steps to a small though perfectly formed beach- we really enjoyed swimming there- bring swimming shoes as my daughter stood on a weever fish which was extremely painful for a day. The grounds of Alfagar Village are really beautiful and so well maintained- always shade to be found and the wind through the palm and pine trees is very relaxing. The breakfast is excellent- lots of choice for children and health conscious adults, plus the traditional fry. It is manic and loud if you go at peak time, which we always managed to do! This is a family resort, it’s quiet at night in the apartments near the sea, I’m not sure nearer the entertainment. But primarily its families with young kids so we are woken not by the sound of the sea but by the shouting and crying of young children every morning, ear plugs in makes no difference. The walls are paper thin, you can hear your Neighbours like they are in the room with you. But you sleep at night and just get up early with the young kids in the apartments around you- also depends on the volume of your Neighbours. Everyone is decent here and looking to have a nice holiday. There are lots of pools and always sun loungers in June anyway, you can rent pool towels. They cleaned our apartment twice in a week which was great and gave us new towels. The on-site market is expensive as is doing laundry (€10 wash and dry one load) so bring enough clothes. The kitchen is well stocked with plates glasses but no cloths or any condiments so either bring it or buy it. I’d recommend this resort, especially if you have small kids. We have teenagers so less for them to do but they were happy to hang at the pool and beach- teenagers won’t do arranged activities anyway! It’s a well maintained resort in a stunning setting, we really enjoyed our time here.

"Another great visit to the Alfagar"

10.0

We have stayed at the village on our last two visits to Alfagar as opposed to staying in the prestige apartments the previous two. The rooms aren’t up to the same standard obviously but they are clean, spacious enough and in a great location overlooking the sea. We love coming to this resort. There is plenty of pools to choose from and entertainment at night which our two young kids enjoyed. The two onsite restaurants are really good with plenty other nice restaurants near by. The staff are always very friendly and we will definitely be back again.

"Family holiday in April"

8.0

Great family vacation. Numerous pools all over the resort. Lovely beach within walking distance. Good little mini market which seemed reasonable. Kids pool with great slides for my 4 and 5 year old which they loved. Also has a playground, football pitches, tennis courts, so many pools (one heated) indoor pool, gym etc. Our 2 bed apartment was huge with everything you need. Poolside bar has good drinks and not bad food. Overall we had a great trip and will return the only slight negatives were the nightly entertainment was not great and the onsite restaurants are not up to the standard of the resort. The portobello restaurant across the road is fab.

Perfect Easter week!! We had a great time in Alfagar. We would like to thank everyone, specially the girls from Kids Club, who put a beautiful smile in my daughter’s face and to Nikkita, the mini discos are better with her! The weather wasn’t perfect, but everything else was!

"No chance of a lie in !"

6.0

The apartment was lovely, really comfortable bed and we stayed on block 3 with a beautiful sea view on the ground floor. The only disadvantage was that at 08.00am cleaners came at both the front and back of our apartment to start moving deck chairs and cleaning around the pool . Then moving laundry at the front of the apartment. It was impossible for both myself and my children to have any kind of a lie in which was very unfortunate.

"First overseas trip to Portugal - ALGARVE region"

6.0

Did an exchange holiday on points expiring via SUNSWOP and RCI from South Africa Found this resort on RCI website and did an impulse booking. Woke up a few months later and realised that I must book flights and plan a vacation! Bite the bullet - booked for our family of 5 and arrived in April 2025 Easter Weekend. After 38 hours of travelling via Doha (cheapest flights we could get on Qatar) we arrived at Alfagar village. We were informed that the unit we booked is only for 4 people and we are a family of 5. Not a great start as the resort was full. Paula not too keen to assist eventually helped us with a huge warning not to do this kind of thing again assisted us in a unit for 4 with separate bed (at a surcharge). We were thankful as we were beyond tired. Unfortunately the room was not ready so we wandered to the beach. 100 odd steps down - we were met with a beautiful beach, blue water and photographic cliffs. Checked into the unit after a good meal (see other review) on the beach. The unit has one bedroom and a sleeper couch, small kitchen and bathroom with shower in bath. The kitchen is well equipped with decent crockery, pots, pans and glasses. Microwave Stove and Oven. Dining table with 6 chairs. The couch pull out bed had a springy mattress and the bed we had to pay extra for also - I requested a topper which made it a bit better The resort is huge with many restaurants, pools (indoor and outdoor), play area for kids, shop for necessities etc The resort is well kept. The beach and cliff walks are beautiful We expected warmer weather towards the end of April but it is still chilly and the ocean water is cold. This however did not stop our kids swimming at all (too cold for me though!) Parking available It is day 2 of our trip so if something pops up - will write a further review
