Filoxenia Hotel Zakynthos

The hotel is good, the rooms in the new bit are excellent. Food is just what you expect just above average. Everywhere is clean and staff are friendly. It's 3/4 of a mile from the nearest town which take 15 minutes. The drinks need improvement not enough selection and quality is average. Had a good holiday all in all.

Day 3 of the holiday. I cannot recommend Filoxenia hotel enough. The location is great, very relaxed vibe with a small family run atmosphere. The food is plentiful good variety for all tastes, but the biggest asset is the staff/people. The bar and restaurant staff, reception, cleaning and maintenance gentleman who also doubles up as the shuttle bus driver there’s nothing to much for them. They always have a smile and a warm welcome waiting for you. Nothing is too much trouble. We had a slight issue with the shower and it was fixed within the hour. I have been to quite a few higher rated hotels but this one stands out the most for attentive staff. The bar and restaurant staff are fantastic with the grandchildren always interacting with them. Even to the point of playing table football with my grandson who was most grateful as he is on holiday with three females. Our room is lovely and I would recommend R125 it is in the corner of the complex quiet and relaxing. I would recommend bringing mosquito spray, something I didn’t think of. We have just come back from our stay here and would definitely recommend, our kids are 14 and 10 and loved the family friendly intimate feel to the hotel, like many others I was concerned by the negative reviews before I left and nearly looked for an alternative but am so glad I did not. We are very open minded people and in our experience of the hotel it met our needs, we stayed in the old part which was slightly dated but very clean and our suite was huge. We tend to use a hotel as a base and go out on trips on alternative days. We did the Zante water village which we really enjoyed, the turtle spotting tour and shipwreck tour which were all worthwhile trips and all offered pick up from our hotel. As we enjoyed the food in the hotel we only eat out once in Zante town centre which was lovely and probably wish we explored that area a bit more as was lively. I loved the fresh salads and soups but I can see why some people with younger children may have struggled. On our chill out days at the pools we had fun and spent more time at the newer pool and enjoyed the beach as well which the hotel offer a shuttle service and if the bus is full the driver does 2 trips. Echo all the positive reviews that people have shared and what was good for us was that we were always able to get a sun lounger as we tend to get up late or be out of the hotel for periods, we prefer the shade so those loungers were the ones free so if you do like the sun you may want to get up earlier and get a front pool side one. Can’t thank the staff enough for their friendless and helpful suggestions. Probably only negative I would say is that the male shower in the toilet area that is used for guests when they have checked out needs a new hose as the water leaks but this is a very easy maintenance fix

Filoxenia is a small hotel with a friendly atmosphere. The pools & grounds are perfect & immaculately clean. The staff are all extremely polite & genuinely friendly, they are a credit to the hotel. The food was delicious, plenty of choice for our children age 15 & 11 who always found something they liked & we enjoyed every meal. Breakfast is 730-1030, lunch 1230-230, poolside savoury snacks 330-430, sweet treats 5-6, dinner 7-930. So much good food! Also 3 flavours of Ice cream available all day & iced coffees. Drinks were fine, not very strong but we liked that as we never had a headache on a morning. We always managed to get sun-beds & pool towels are available from reception if needed. Our room was ground floor in the new part just steps away from the pool. We had a large room with fridge & kettle, the room was cleaned daily by a sweet lady & it had very good air conditioning. Not much in the form of entertainment here but we preferred that. The Greek night on a Wednesday was fun! We enjoyed the walk on a night to the beach which felt safe & we also caught the free shuttle bus a couple of times. We recommend Nifis boat trips & we did a trip to Zante town which by taxi is €15 up-to the castle for panoramic views, then a stroll downhill (15 mins) into town and to the harbour. There’s some nice restaurants here & shops & fancy boats to admire. We were there about 3 hours in the early evening which was enough for a wonder around & a meal but you could stay longer. Mango beach bar was also really nice in Tsilivi, this had a chilled vibe, good burgers & cool tunes from the DJ. We also recommend Boutique beach bar which is €15 for a pair of sun-beds & parasol. It’s clean, chilled & has a gorgeous small pool as well as being on the seafront. We would recommend this hotel if you enjoy a smaller, quieter hotel & we would definitely stay here again in the future. Thanks for having us Filoxenia!

I have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Filoxenia Hotel, and I felt compelled to share the exceptional service we received from Fabio, one of the waiters. From the moment we arrived, Fabio went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our dining experience was smooth, safe, and enjoyable. As someone with dietary allergies, eating out can be stressful, but Fabio made it completely worry-free. Each day, he took the time to double-check ingredients, communicate clearly with the kitchen staff, and offer safe alternatives without making it feel like any trouble at all. He remembered our needs, was always kind and professional, and handled everything with a calm confidence that made us feel completely at ease. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Fabio. His attention to detail, warmth, and genuine care made a lasting impression and truly enhanced our stay. Staff like Fabio are what set a hotel apart — he’s a real credit to Filoxenia. Highly recommend this hotel.

We had a truly lovely break here! The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, and the hotel itself was beautifully clean throughout. The food was delicious, always well presented, with plenty of variety and constantly replenished – there was never a shortage of choice. At the pool bar set amongst olive trees Alexander made the best iced coffees and was always on hand with great tips for making the most of our holiday. The bar staff at the other pool were also great fun, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere. There was entertainment on three evenings, plus bingo, a quiz, and a pool tournament during the afternoons. Around the pools there were always plenty of sunbeds available, so there was no need to rush, you can borrow fresh beach towels every other day, rooms are cleaned daily, and if you’re leaving later in the day, there’s a shower available so you can still enjoy the pool until the very end of your stay. We arrived late in the evening, but the receptionist kindly took us straight over for a bite to eat and a drink before checking us in, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The hotel is also within walking distance of the town (though perhaps best attempted when it’s a little cooler!). In short: the staff were wonderful, the facilities spotless, and the food and drink excellent. Some reviews mention unfriendly staff, but I can only say that our experience was the complete opposite – I think it often reflects how guests treat the staff in return. A truly relaxing holiday that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so special

Amazing holiday. We stayed here for a week. Hotel staff were the nicest people very friendly and always had smiles on their faces. Don't worry about the negative comments you read . The hotel and food were lovely, and there was plenty of food at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At 3.30 pm, they have a snack bar around the pool. Limited, but what there was was perfectly fine then at 4. 30pm you can get a selection of cakes and biscuits for afternoon tea. The restaurant was fine, never overly busy, and plenty to choose from. The bar staff are always happy to see you and are very good at what they do. It's a good 15 min walk to the town which is a beautiful place to be plenty of shops bars and restaurants and all very reasonably priced. We stayed in the old part of the hotel which was fine its is in need of some upgrades as the bathrooms do look a little tired and maybe some grouting paint for the floor tiles wouldn't go a miss but they are clean and the maid came every day to clean and make the beds up. Which do have very firm mattresses. We would definitely come back to the filoxinia and I would like to thank the hotel staff for a great weeks holiday.

Lovely clean and friendly hotel. Bar staff and check in staff couldn't do enough for you. Friendly, kind, and fun. Cleaners do an amazing job also. We stayed in the older side and had no problem. Reading the previous reviews I was worried but was so surprised. Variety of food is good. Bar staff check in regularly that you are having a good time and if you need anything. Nothing is too much trouble. Taxis arranged by reception staff if and when needed. Excellent resort. Would happily stay here again.

Having kept an eye on the reviews on the run-up to our holiday we grew increasingly concerned about our stay at Filoxenia with a lot of mixed feedback. Now that we sit here on our last day of a two week stay I am convinced that some people either have completely wrong expectations or just like to complain! We learned during check-in that Filoxenia means 'hospitality' and it certainly lives up to that name. All of the staff encountered were friendly, courteous and diligent, from the receptionists, bar staff, dining room team, cleaners and the shuttle-bus driver. Some people might need to remember that they're not there to be your best mate or entertain your kids, but do a hard job in incredible heat, and do it well. The hotel is kept very clean and in good condition; we stayed in the 'old part' in a good sized two-bedroom family suite with each room having its own balcony. The two main pools are great, and there was always enough sunbeds or tables and chairs to make use of, with one of the two bars only ever a few metres away. While we were here there was a couple of incidents involving other guests, which the staff rightly stepped in and dealt with in a discreet and professional manner. The all-inclusive drinks package is typical, with local beers, wines and spirits available, as well as ice cream. Although the restaurant (and therefore food quantity) is smaller than other hotels we've stayed in, we found the quality and variety of food here very good, with options to suit all members of our family, including a fussy 12 year old! As well as the main meal times, they serve up lighter options at a smaller buffet table after lunch, and various sweets treats and cakes as 'afternoon tea' on the bar. We knew in advance that this would not be a hotel with lively entertainment all day or every night, but were pleasantly surprised with the programme that did exist. There is a daytime event three times a week; a quiz, bingo or pool competition. And on an evening there is a singer/musicians on twice a week, and it's 'Greek night' on a Wednesday, including the evening meal theme and some great music/dancing thereafter. Again, it was clear when we booked that the hotel was on the outskirts of Tsilivi and yet we saw some other reviews mention this negatively. It's only a short 5-10 minute stroll to the nearest shops and bars, and around 15-20 to the main area of the town. All of the walk is on a pavement except around 50 metres near to the hotel where you walk along the roadside. Alternatively the hotel shuttle bus is free and does regular trips back and forth throughout the day. We got a taxi one evening to Zakynthos town and it was a very reasonable 15 euro. We don't tend to return to the same place twice but would have no hesitation in booking here again if we came back to Tsilivi. Efcharisto poli from us!

Just came home from a visit to Tsilivi and stayed here. Staff were always kind and accommodating to any questions or requests we had. All inclusive options there’s a good variety for people so always something to eat. Room was fine and slept really well, glad we had aircon however else we would have been too hot. The walk into town for myself felt a little far so would say this is absolutely perfect if you don’t mind walking. Would stay here again :)
