Filoxenia Hotel Zakynthos

Just arrived home today, and we have had a lovely relaxing holiday at this hotel. Such friendly staff right from the check in, actually took us to our 2 rooms, rather than waiving a hand in the general direction of a lift or corridor. We had 2 rooms for our party of 5 my husband and I in a huge room (AC was on and very efficient) with 2 double beds and a single the bathroom was a wet room shower (water pressure a little lower than we are used to) the room was cleaned to a high standard daily the cleaning team v friendly and cheerful - the room opened up to a terrace then a few steps directly on to the pool. Again all kept beautifully clean. A lovely pool bar by this pool was well stocked, ice creams, filtered water. The restaurant is well staffed and kept clean and tables cleaned quickly, it is small and tables are a little close, but everyone we met was friendly and pulled chairs in as necessary. Lots of fresh salads, always plenty of choice in every area. The main pool bar all staff were friendly and hardworking the area was always clean.

Had 13 nights here and can definitely recommend this place the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The food was great plenty of choices. Pool area was great and guests were friendly we had a good laugh. The staff at both the daytime bar and evening bar were brilliant and we had a good laugh with them these were the people that made our stay special and have led to us looking forward to returning. Have to also mention the staff at reception as they pointed us in the right direction when we were asking about where to go for a walk suggesting bars and restaurants and how to extend our walks.

Let's start with the positives. The staff were lovely and always made sure you were ok, apart from the lady on reception who was very rude on numerous occasions. The food was nice and our plates were always full. The rooms were cleaned daily. The hotel...awful. On arrival we were in our 2 bedroom apartment was in the old side of the hotel so looked nothing like the photos advertised online. They were of the refurbished side of the hotel so we were hugely disappointed. The room was grotty and the bathroom floor was always wet as the water and bubbles came up through a drain on the floor. The seated area comprised of a 2 seater settee so as a family of 4 was not suitable. Outside the large pool was ok but the kids pool was surrounded by a concrete wall that was boiling to the touch so totally unsuitable. The hotel is also located on a very busy main road with nothing to stop a child from running into it. Overall would not recommend this hotel and definitely isn't 4 star. 2 star at most and that's generous.

We arrived on the first day to a dirty grotty apartment. We had booked a two bedroom apartment which we have since learnt, are only available in the old building and not the new. The photos online are all of the new building. There was not cot for my toddler to sleep in, so after visiting reception, I was told one was not available and when it was available, it was €5 per night! In addition, we would have to wait until Housekeeping were in the following day. The female receptionist was INCREDIBLY RUDE, on more than one occasion. We visited the pool the following day to learn that the baby pool had a concrete edging that was BOILING during the day so little ones couldn’t touch it. The food was ok… but poorly labelled. The hotel says there is WiFi in every room… nope, there is not. We spoke to our Jet2 rep who had tried to move us hotels due to the way below average quality of this appalling hotel. Jet2 informed us that it would be a further £800 to change to a different hotel after already paying £4,000 for this hell hole. We toughed it out and got through the holiday but i have never been as happy to be coming home. The only saving grace of the hotel is the staff, with the exception of the sour faced female receptionist who seems to think she is a cut above everyone. If you have the opportunity to NOT visit this hotel, then please take it up. I have never been as disappointed with a hotel in my life. Avoid at all costs if you can!

We stayed in the older building which was sub standard and not as described by JET2. Dirty tiles on floor, noisy air con, broken fixings, dirty shower and old grubby towels. We made a complaint with reception straight away and asked to be moved. The receptionist was unhelpful, rude and unsympathetic. We made a formal complaint with the JET2 rep on his visit to the hotel. Other issues were the food was not clearly labelled for vegetarians. (The pizza was described as mushroom but had ham underneath it). No "do not disturb" signs for the rooms. No cocktails included in AI. Mixer drinks of very poor quality. Very disappointed with the hotel due to the amount of money that our group of 4 paid. There is an ongoing complaint lodged with JET2. The majority of the staff were pleasant and the pool areas were clean and tidy. We would return to Tslivi but definitely not to this hotel.

Lovely small, personal and friendly hotel we stayed in the old part but it was clean comfortable and we’re not bothered about the new part at all. Two pools, both clean and spacious and choice of beds at any time of the day. Great staff, nice little small restaurant with great salad bar and ample choice . Perfect location nice little 20 minute walk into town. The free shuttle bus is an excellent service too. If you want a small and friendly and personal experience this place is for you, if you’re looking for a large hotel, large amount of food choice, many restaurants to choose from and loads of entertainment, stay elsewhere. The only downsides I would say are the soft drink mixers were rubbish. I bought my own from the shop and took them down with me every night to go with the drinks. If you have very fussy children, there isn’t much choice. They don’t have pizzas or chips every day but if food isn’t the main part of your holiday like us, this hotel is a perfect place to stay. There are loads of nice restaurants in town to go to if you fancy a change. Alexandria who works on the garden bar is there every day bless her and is so friendly and remembers everyone!

Absolutely loved our week at the hotel. We had a 2 bedroom room in the older side of the hotel which was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. Spent quite a few days around the larger of the 2 pools on the newer side. Alexandria in the Garden Bar was fabulous. Food generally good. Excellent breakfasts but a bit short on lunch/dinner choices a couple of days for my fussy husband! Bar staff in the older part of the hotel fun, chatty and always smiling. We walked along the main road to the beach one day, but did get the hotel's shuttle bus back as it was extremely hot! Took part in a few activities at the hotel like a quiz and bingo. Greek night on Wednesday was fun too. We'd definitely like to return 😊

Very nice hotel, modern and clean rooms, the restaurant offered wide choice in breakfast and a little more limited at lunch and dinner but always good quality food. The staff is very friendly and helpful from receptionists to barmen. I recommend renting a car for those who want to visit the beaches of the island because public transport is practically absent. Super approved hotel!

We stayed at Filoxenia as a group of 10 (adults and kids) and had such a lovely week. I’d read some iffy reviews about the food, but honestly – I’m really fussy and thought it was great! Loads of choice and tasted good. The hotel was super clean – our room in the newer part was lovely, and even the older rooms (where some of our family stayed) were nice. The cleaning lady was so friendly too. There are two pools – we liked the one on the older side best, but both were great. It’s about a 12-minute walk to Tsilivi centre and Paradise Bar. Reception and restaurant staff were brilliant – really helpful and welcoming. Bar staff were okay. All in all, a fab place for a chilled family holiday. We’d definitely go back!

Came for a week with a friend and her children greeted by a lovely gentleman on reception, was made aware we were to pay the tax before we could have the key or wristbands. No information was given to us. Had to ask other guests or look on their webpage for meal times or any other important information We were taken to our room which was the old building. Nice spacious clean room until we see the bathroom. In desperate need of refurbishment!! After showering you had to mop the floor as water and bubbles came up through a drain. Could be very dangerous for some guests. Lack of entertainment during the night. Even worse in the day!! Food was very repetitive and no 2 foods went together. Ate out for 2 of the evenings and missed 4 breakfast for our own sanity. Staff were all amazing! Always greeting you with a smile and wished you a nice day. This hotel would be good as a base or for over 65s Will not be returning
