Filoxenia Hotel Zakynthos

We wanted a nice 3 day weekend away and called them to book 2 rooms, they called us back 3 times and gave us the price. We then took the ferry and drove over and when we arrived they gave us a different price which was double. We decided to stay anyway because it was late and we had our tired 2 small kids with us. There was no working wifi as they stated (needed for remote work) they rooms are literally falling apart also mold in the bathroom. The hardest bed I've ever had in a hotel and be prepared for the mosquitos as we killed over 20 of them in the room when we arrived and left with my son covered from bites even with protection. We left after the first night, just to add the reservation manager could care less about their issues. "Accidents happen she said" very disappointed

We stayed for three nights last month. We didn’t book a transfer, but got a taxi from the airport which is around 15 minutes away for €30. There are two buildings (one newer, one clearly older)and two pools, the buildings were next door to each other. Restaurant was in the old building and each pool has a bar. Room: We stayed in a deluxe double in the newer building. The room was lovely and is as shown on the hotels website. Some TV English channels and Netflix and Prime available, wine, water, fruit and toiletries provided. Extra water was added during the stay and the room was cleaned every day, towels changed once. There’s a mini fridge and safe in room along with air con which was free of charge. Towels were lovely and the bed really comfortable. The only complaint about our room(323) was that we had no view, our room literally looked onto a wall. The bathroom was also very compact and the walk in shower flooded the space every time we used it, the hotel is obviously aware, as they had a rolled up towel in front of the shower door, which did nothing, so there is obviously an issue with drainage. I literally had to stand for around 5 minutes after each shower to allow it to drain before opening the shower door! Food: We only ate breakfast and lunch in the hotel. There wasn’t a huge amount of choice and we found, especially at lunchtime that they didn’t seem to top up the food quickly, but there was always just enough to make a meal and what we had was ok. We went into Tsivili for our evening meals and drinks which was around a 20 minute walk away. Facilities: Our pool was lovely and clean, by around 9.15 all loungers were gone, but there seemed to be plenty free around the other pool. The lady on the pool bar was lovely, no cocktails, but beer, spirits, soft drinks and ice cream available. Toilets around the newer buildings pool were modern and spotless, as was the rest of the hotel and pool areas. All of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We asked for a late checkout as we were on an evening flight, but were told this isn’t something the hotel can provide(check in is 3pm and check out 11am) but there was a shower in the older buildings toilets. This had no door however, so you would need to shower in your swimming costume and take your hairdryer etc. Overall it was a nice stay, the 4 star rating is mainly for our room, the pool and the lovely staff, however if we had been in the older building and due to the lack of food choice I think it would have been a 3 star.

Staff very friendly! We were initially given a room in the older building, which involved going in a very old lift. There was mould to bathroom and the grout on the floor tiles was dirty, room was hot and smelt of damp. Beds very hard, difficult to sleep as it was loud with the bar music and too hot. Also near to our room was an old iron staircase, which was not safe and should not be accessible, especially to children. Thankfully staff allowed us to move to the new build and the room was clean, modern and much better. Restaurant was cramped and not relaxed there are too many tables in a small space, felt rushed and constantly having to move on seat to allow others past. Food- small choice but nice. Pool area by newer build spacious and kids loved it. Hotel is on a busy dangerous bend in a road. (See photos below also for contrast of old to new build) No cocktails, no mocktails and the funniest part was the lovely bar lady was not allowed to mix icecreams as it’s “against hotel policy” Tsvilli is beautiful but we would not stay at this hotel again.

We stayed in the Deluxe room, which was absolutely beautiful, very modern and very comfortable. However, our family ended up on the older side of the hotel, which was not half as nice. The room was dated, it had a very distinctive “old” smell to it. The bathroom was a bath with a shower over, which meant the bathroom was flooded every time the shower was used. The photos online are very manipulated to what they want you to see. We were very surprised at the size of the pools, they were very small with the amount of people that had attended the same time of us, as well as floats being used, it made it very limited for space within both pools. 2 mornings, our parents woke up to no water in their room, which meant they could not get ready and use facilities before we headed off for an excursion. The staff had also taken away the drinking water dispenser which meant there was no access whatsoever to running water. The restaurant, well this has let the whole hotel down in all honesty. The selection of food was poor, the amount of space within the dining area was extremely poor. We actually got turned away one evening because they couldn’t accommodate us, the asked us to sit downstairs and they would call us up, however, they stated we could not sit together as a family because there was “no space available”. This infuriated us as a family and we then decided we weren’t to eat at the restaurant again. The lack of entertainment during the evenings was also very disappointing. There was only 2 evenings that we had entertainment. On a positive note, majority of the staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Tsilivi was a beautiful town, the hotel was in a reasonable location. We will definitely be revisiting the island but unfortunately not this hotel.

We have just got home from a week's stay and we had a lovely time. We had a good offer with Easyjet holidays when we booked & it was quite cheap so felt it was good value for what we paid but feel the hotel definitely more like a 3* than a 4* star accommodation. The staff were all very friendly & a special mention to the lady who cleaned our room 301 who always smiled & wished us a good morning. Our room was always spotlessly clean. Also a mention to the lovely lady who worked behind the bar by the smaller of the swimming pools who always made conversation & asked about our day. Pros Large family room. Very clean complex. Friendly staff. Nice swimming pools. Comfy lounge area. Amazing desserts. Tasty food. Cons WiFi rubbish in our room. Rock hard beds. We were in old block which needed updating. Drinks a bit poor no fresh juices & no cocktails.

I am going to give a very honest review , I am not in any way posh and don’t expect the best. First impressions were disappointing when we were shown to our room I felt the brochure pictures made the rooms look much nicer than they were , don’t get me wrong they were clean and spacious and the cleaners work hard but just wasn’t what I was expecting, my son and daughter in law however were given a deluxe room which was beautiful ( if you can upgrade do it ) my son tried to upgrade us the day we arrived but unfortunately there was no availability. We have only ate in the restaurant twice ( 3rd time we tried we were told there was no room for us ! no tables.. we was told to go and wait and they will come and get us when a table becomes free but we wouldn’t be able to sit together., we just left ) ( the restaurant isn’t big enough for the amount of guests it holds )… The food area isn’t very big and felt cramped when trying to get food .. there wasn’t much variety of food at that ( I love chips fortunately) but ate out in some beautiful restaurants in the town …. The beds !!! Well they are rock hard luckily I can pretty much sleep anywhere ( son and daughter in law of course had a lovely bed ) Be prepared to spend lots of money before your holiday even starts ! Money for room tax , money for safe , money for air con , money for cocktails . 2 mornings we woke with no water to get ready and had a excursion one morning so felt dirty before we left first thing, no apology just we are working on it ! The hotel itself has so much potential and it’s a shame they don’t upgrade the whole building as for a base it’s in the perfect location to explore. End of the day you only really sleep in the room but just felt a little mislead after seeing such beautiful pictures. Positive note Staff are very friendly and the bar staff are very funny they truly are a credit to the hotel. We will be back to Greece but unfortunately we will not be staying here again.

Friendly staff but needs some TLC. Booked for a 4 day mini break on an All inclusive basis first impressions, beautiful modern reception and buildings and then we were shown to our room in what appears to be the old original part of the hotel. Room again on first impressions was big and spacious with 2 double beds however a strong smell of stale cigarette smoke. Bathroom was very dated, with an old over the bath shower which faced sideways and the sink was on an angle. Taps were covered in limescale. Food was OK, I'm not fussy so found enough to eat however, it's a very small area for the number of guests and not a lot of choice for an all inclusive. I think the old part of the building really needs attention, even just the walkways are looking tired. I think the hotel would be better suited to bed and breakfast as doesnt seem to have the capacity to fulfil all inclusive.

Our trip here was great. We stayed in a room in the newer part of the hotel and think we would have been disappointed if we had been in the other building though. The room was spacious and great for a family of three. The pools are nice and the staff endeavour to keep everything g as clean as possible on our first morning all hands on deck cleaning the dust from the poolside from the rain the night before. The food is as expected , slightly repetitive but always something good to eat even for our 18 month old. There is a little park for small kids but not ideal for older kids. The drinks are fine. Most importantly the staff are wonderful, kind and very accommodating for our daughter, always happy to see her. We had a lovely holiday thank you!

The hotel was really lovely, rooms are quite basic but still clean and did the job. Lots of complaints about the beds being rock solid but personally had no problems with the firmness of the beds. Very spacious rooms and we had a pool view room, lifts available to get up to the first and second floors. The cleaners were lovely, the bar staff and restaurant staff were also lovely! The food wasn’t 100% the best but we did eat here most nights always something to find. Desserts were lovely and lots of ice cream available all times of day either from restaurant or from the event room next to the second pool. The walk into Tsilivi was a worry for us with having a young child but it really isn’t that bad, takes around 15 minutes but there’s shops and restaurants the whole way down and the walk wasn’t tiring at all. In the end we actually quite enjoyed it. The two pools are both nice, tiles falling off the edge of one of them which wasn’t too good but just stayed away from that edge and was fine. Our room didn’t lock properly all of the time either but still felt very safe. Always availability for sun lounger around the pool and over all really enjoyed our stay here, would definitely go back.

Good staff good value for money a 3 star hotel if you’re on budget 2 good pools that are cleaned every day
