"Avoid when taking children/familys."

2.0

Unfortunately, this hotel should be for couples only…., Passive aggressive staff Children being approached in a passive aggressive manner Glass found in the pool, staff took the glass and laughed, no measures taken to maintain safety. Children being told from day one, no jumping in the pool, no ball games, no splashing, which is something of a difficult task due to being in water. Only signs up were not to this specification and stipulated that there was no diving due to no life guard. No front or back flips which was fine and understandable. However, the approach needed to be different. Again, staff used a passive aggressive approach instead of speaking with parents. Nephew who has additional needs including Tourette’s was told off for sticking his finger up at his sister, not for anyone but parents to deal with and when it was explained to them that this is a child with SEN, they did not care. Children told not to come to the bar without being wrapped and dry. However, we were as parents going to the bar wet without towel and other children. Other family’s were playing ball games, jumping in, splashing and having fun as expected on holiday. However, our whole party were being discriminated against from day one. Tables not aloud to be put together for health and safety reasons, again other family’s did and nothing was said. Went to deal with an incident with my child in the restaurant and did not dress appropriately..in Bikini at dinner time and was told I was not aloud in dressed like that. However, a young group of girls came in without being covered, nothing was said. When asked about this, the rules had changed to only bottom end covered at breakfast and dinner. Food is not inclusive for family’s. The only snack available between set meal times were ice cream. The food was also not inclusive of international food and therefore we were forced to leave and eat out due to there being no choice for young children. Playing table football and the children scored and cheered, again they were told off and the ball taken away so they could not play again. There is no entertainment, so don’t expect anything other than a pool. We played a shower speaker on low and was told we were not aloud to. Unfortunately, due to the horrendous way we were treated and the feeling of being unwelcome, we spend a lot of time away from the hotel. So if tub do choose to go, do not pay for all inclusive. I will point some positives. The hotel is very clean and there are some hard working cleaners. The maintenance guy/ shuttle bus driver was amazing. There was a member of staff at the bar named Julio who was nice. This is an all inclusive hotel which should also be inclusive with the consumers that pay thousands of pounds to come.

"Fantastic Filoxenia"

10.0

Cannot recommend Filoxenia enough. Very clean rooms (cleaned daily) fantastic pool, plenty of sunbeds, all staff amazing (especially Alent). Now the food…. Large selection of different breakfast (english to continental) hot food all covered terrines (never saw a fly once!). Frankfurters and turkey bacon instead of English however it wasnt a problem for me. Lunch was the same. Different main every day with delicious sides. Again all covered and clean. Dinner was fantastic. Again different mains with delicious sides. All fresh salads/fruits. Regarding meal times… we never struggled for a table and the staff were there once one was vacated and cleaned and re-laid instantly, The food itself was regularly topped up and we never saw an empty terrine. The bar staff was excellent pouring generous drinks and interacting with the guests. The location is a tad out of the main town however plenty of people had a walk on the nights and there was a regular shuttle bus to the front free of charge. Free WIFI with a good signal all over. We was gutted to leave and would love to go back

"Not a hotel for kids"

8.0

We stayed in this hotel for 10 nights hotel was clean and staff were nice, our housekeeper was a lovely lady. The hotel is on a busy road which is not ideal with kids and it is noisy in the night with the sound of aeroplanes, traffic and certain animals. Our son loved the pool, the food was not great same things most nights and mostly frozen food heated up, if it was fresh the meat for example was really tuff. The salads are lovely so i ate that most of my holiday. This hotel advertises as having a kids menu this is not the case 8 out of 10 nights the option was chips and fish fingers lucky for us our son likes salad and pasta. The location isn’t great but you can get a bus into the main town of zakynthos every 30 min or walk around 20 min to some shops and restaurants that are down the road. There was hardly any entertainment in this hotel so it is boring but we went out most days to entertain our son.

"Not for families, okay for adults . "

6.0

Went with family of 10 , kids enjoyed the pool , but it's a shame that there's no entertainment for them , not really a family hotel , only 2 staff were happy and friendly, others just seemed miserable, food okay , again not really much choice for kids , rooms were very clean and spacious, we were in the new rooms . Location again not good with kids , okay for adults to walk to the strip ,but a bit much for kiddies , thank God we hired a car for 3 days . Overall I've stayed in worse and is good for a 3 star , but wouldn't stay again .

"AMAZING BEAUTIFUL RELAXING HOLIDAY"

10.0

We are currently on our last day here and have had a fantastic time and will be sad to leave . From the friendly greeting when you first arrive the lovely lady at the garden bar, the cleaners, the staff in the restaurant are all so friendly happy and helpful. Rooms are cleaned daily and linen changed regularly, towels changed everyday. You can get towels from reception for the pool and have them changed every 2 days. There is a digital information board in reception and QR code in your room to find out mealtimes etc. Food was lovely, we can not understand the reviews saying it was horrible, there was something for everyone and all tasted and cooked beautifully. We are a family of 4 with two girls age 13 & 15 and we have all absolutely had the best time. Totally relaxed and not looking forward to leaving here tomorrow. The gardens are beautiful and pool area kept really clean. I can not believe some people's reviews on here saying bed things about this hotel. It's one of the loveliest we have been to and will definitely return.

"Great holiday hotel"

8.0

Stayed here for five days as part of a two island holiday. We stayed in the more modern part of the hotel, there are two sites next to each other. The more modern one has lovely rooms and beds with small shower and toilet. All perfectly fine for a holiday though there were a lack of towel rails. The pool is not particularly big but totally fine. The staff especially in reception were super friendly and helpful. We were all inclusive and there is a lovely little restaurant on site with not a massive selection but all home cooked and a decent choice - one of the best I have been too. There are a couple of bars serving usual local beers and spirits. There was some ‘entertainment’ but it was bang average and not a deal breaker for me as I don’t like that sort of thing anyway. The beach and town are a 4 minute taxi ride away - and actually only a 20 min stroll. Local beach is flat and safe and the town has a decent selection of restaurants and bars if you want somewhere more lively. If you want a mega loud and banging hotel this is not for you, if you want something a bit more laid back with good food and you are prepared to wander around and explore then you could do a lot worse than here. And I stress, lovely Greek staff!

"2* at best"

6.0

I’ll start this review by saying that we stayed in the old part of the hotel, I suspect you’d have less problems with rooms etc in the new part of the hotel. We had a 2 bed family room, the positives are that it was very spacious and the beds were all huge. Unfortunately there were a lot of negatives with the room. We stayed in 302, right by the lift and opposite the cleaning cupboard, this meant we had constant noise from the cleaners from about 7.30 and trolleys etc passing our room to the lift. Even with all the doors and windows shut, it was very very noisy and woke us up every morning. The balcony was surrounded by a 4 foot high wall with nothing to see and the doors kept jamming (5 times over 2 weeks we needed to call to get them fixed). The shower was powerful and hot but unfortunately the bathroom floor drain seemed to throw up all the soapy water from the shower meaning the whole floor was covered in drain water, disgusting. The ceiling also leaked water and you could hear the room next door toileting and showering as the walls were so thin…. You do get tea in your room but it wasn’t replenished during our stay so we took teabags from breakfast and bought milk from the shop 10 mins walk away. The pool areas are nice and maintained well, but are very busy. Most days we couldn’t get a lounger so got the free minibus to the beach (highly recommend boutique beach bar or piscina bar for a relaxing day). The food… it was horrible. The salads at lunch and dinner were the only good thing. The rest just felt like it was reheated mush to be honest. Usually chips, pasta, a pie of some sort, soggy fish and some sort of meat concoction. We chose to eat out most days in Tsilivi (a 15/20 minute flat walk) and the restaurants there were all amazing, we didnt have one bad meal so I’d highly recommend eating out and trying all the amazing restaurants. I’ll be honest we went out to the local bars for entertainment but we did catch some of the hotel entertainment.. like bad karaoke would be my comparison. I’m very confused by all the 5 star reviews if I’m honest, luckily we had planned to use the hotel as a base but I would be so annoyed if I’d booked all inclusive and planned to use it, no cocktails, all the drinks (including soft drinks) are local branded drinks. My advice would be save your money and book self catering closer to town and use the restaurants and bars instead.

"Fantastic holiday at The Filoxenia Hotel!"

10.0

We have just returned home from a week’s all inclusive stay at The Filoxenia. We are a family of four with two children aged 16 and 13. We all had an amazing time. This is a lovely quiet hotel in beautiful surroundings. We have stayed in much bigger hotels with lively entertainment but we absolutely loved this as it was quiet during the day and only entertainment on a couple of nights which we were happy with. All the staff were so lovely, polite, friendly, helpful, chatty and extremely hard working, the place was spotless! We stayed in a family room in the ‘old’ part of the hotel. Our room was lovely and big, very clean, free air con which we were expecting to pay for so that was a bonus!! The bathroom was clean but needed updating but that didn’t bother us. Both the pool areas are lovely, we tended to go to the new side and always managed to get sun loungers. Food was lovely, great choice everyday, we particularly liked the food on the Greek night, the kebabs were lovely. We loved the local lager, ‘Zorbas’! The Greek dancing was great fun too! We got the free hotel bus one day to Tsivili beach. The beach was beautiful! We hired two lots of sun loungers outside Venus Beach Bar for 30 euros it was well worth it, lovely and relaxing and great music from the bar! Hats off to The Filoxenia, we got this holiday at a brilliant price and had an amazing time, we didn’t want to leave! We will definitely return. Thank you so much to the hotel and all the hard working staff, you are doing a great job 👍 xx

"We had a great time at the Filoxenia Hotel"

10.0

We have just returned from a week at the Filoxenia, and we had a great time. We booked a deluxe room and it didn't disappoint. The room was lovely, cleaned every day. With bottled water left for us daily. The hotel was quiet, which is what we were looking for, we went before the school holidays started. The food was good. Varied and we found something to eat every day, and I'm a very fusy eater. The pool was lovely and there were always sunbeds available. There wasn't much in the way of entertainment, but with the town about a 15 min walk away, we went out after dinner on a couple of nights. All the staff were lovely and very friendly. Overall, we had an amazing stay and would definitely come back again.
