"This place is NOT suitable for summer"

4.0

The Village Gate House is located within the Whistler village, and provides easy access (by foot) to all the village and its surroundings. We recommend parking the car and leaving it until you leave (more on parking below). The bathrooms were newly renovated (room 208-308) and the layout was functional, and I could see this being an ideal location for winter vacations.

Other than the bathrooms, the place was rather dated. It was quite a challenge to locate the parking spot. I would suggest providing a map, even with pictures, to help guide guests as this seems to be a recurring issue. So once we parked, we just left the car there and traveled everywhere by foot. But the worse was that it was so uncomfortably hot. While the listing is clear about there being no A/C, and there is no control over the outside temperature, I would consider this particular room as unsafe in the summer. The instructions were to open the windows - but none of the windows could be opened - so we could only open the patio doors. However, the open patio door on the main level did very little to cool down the place at night, and the one from the master bedroom led to the enclosed hot tub area, which was beyond stifling hot. So opening the patio door there made things worse, as the hot tub could not be turned off. I tried keeping the outer patio door, which led from the enclosed hot tub area to the patio, open during the day to reduce the heat and possibly allow some fresher air in during the night. But everytime I returned, that door was closed... ???!!! I had placed a chair in front of it, to keep it open, and the chair was always moved when we got back. Yes, there were three fans provided, but they were insufficient, especially for the upper level. Either turn off the hot tub in the summer or simply do not rent out this room in the hotter summer months, which are likely to persist going forward.

In the heart of Whistler Village! Two bathrooms is a plus, no need to wait or share! The only issue was there is no air conditioner in the unit, and it got HOT. Keeping the windows open at night isn’t an option as Whistler Life is just below your room window. Plus, the loud hot tub on the patio (odd, I agree) is even louder when you have the slider open. I’m sure the place is great when it’s not warm outside. It did have a peculiar odor in the stairway from the main bedroom to the living space.

"Great location in the heart of the village"

10.0

This little gem is tucked away in the heart of Whistler Village (our unit had a balcony view of the bridge and Cow’s ice cream). It can be a bit hard to find but the management team provided great directions. Check in was touchless and easy, we were always able to reach a live person for any special requests, and the unit had all the comforts of home. Now for the cons: No A/C - I personally enjoyed this and with windows open, fans going all was well. Noise: being in the middle of everything you will hear music and revelers until 2 or 3 am. Didn’t bother us. We enjoyed our stay and I would recommend to anyone looking for a spacious rental in a great location. Shower was hot and powerful, kitchen was spotless. Fun fact: our unit had a private hot tub and a massive shower with dual rainfall showerheads.

Good location, well stocked kitchen.

No air conditioning, fans need updating. WiFi wasn’t great. Staff seemingly didn’t respond to concerns about elevator.
